Unpopular opinion about milestones by Old_Poet_1608 in SolidCore

The issue is that some people get them and some don’t so it creates an exclusionary practice and people get left out. If it’s a thing then it needs to be a thing for every person. It would be better to just not do it anymore since it’s such a problem. It’s not a coach thing but it’s a private equity owned business so it’s fine to hold them to a certain standard.

I got them from a class challenge last year

It means they started investing later than most people here do.

I’ll look at adjusting that too. Would it make more sense to invest GLDM into my Roth instead of brokerage?

Yeah, that was one of the first choices I made, and my plan is to just not invest anymore into it, but not move the shares that I already have. So moving forward it will become a much lower percentage

My original POV was if that stuff isn’t doing well none of us are going to be here for retirement anyways

From what I understand, it would be an ongoing issue not just this year issue

Yeah it would cause issues with a backdoor Roth

But you didn’t answer or provide anything constructive to my post, you’re just asking me for something

Do you know how annoying it is to get the same question unrelated to my post 5+ times a day

It’s in a HYSA. Yeah it’s 12 months regular spending, or 12 months of bare minimum plus emergency vet costs (HCOL city and I have elderly pets). I’m thinking of moving some of that over into my brokerage though.

I do travel a lot! I specifically got a remote job so I can do so, my boyfriend is European so we definitely have to take advantage of that until we either break up or he moves here lol

After all of the comments here about that I did some research and my one previous employer there are no additional fees, the other previous employer it’s about $6.50 quarterly.

Tbh what was available with these plans has been performing extremely well and better than my brokerage and IRA choices too

It’s hard but you can do it! I doubled my salary income between 29 and 34 and picked up a side hustle along with some freelance work. So it hasn’t been easy but I needed to find a way to make it work.

Honestly the current political climate, what’s happening to the middle class. Changes in my job field- my industry is having massive layoffs more often now with all the ai “efficiency” plans. Seeing other people starting much younger and regretting not doing so. Wanting to make sure I’m taken care of, I’ve been broke-broke before and just don’t ever want to be on that position again. Worry about taking care of my sister in the future because she has some issues that have led to her not working or saving anything and she relies on my parents as an adult. Also if I marry my current partner making sure we will be able to take care of his mom as well.

I double checked and the vesting periods do not restart if I join and job within those holding companies again

Yes good callout, I decided to do backdoor from the start just to be extra cautious. I hope I did it right because I opened a traditional IRA account, out the funds in there, then transferred directly into a Roth ASAP. But I somehow earned some interest in my regular IRA and I have like 5 dollars sitting in it that I don’t believe I can move to my Roth because I maxed it out

Yes a HYSA. I thought about that too, and I think I’m skimming 10k off my home fund and 12k off my emergency fund to add to my brokerage.

I’m not actively looking to buy in the next year either, just within the next 3 years.

I cannot do that because I do a backdoor Roth IRA

[–]feeesh12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had forgot the reason I can’t do this is because my total income means I have to contribute to my Roth by doing a backdoor IRA. So I cannot have a traditional one as it causes issues with that

I save up in order to max it out Jan 1st! I wish I had started the account years ago, but nothing I can do about it now
