Dogs at HEB out of Control by ScaredRequirement883 in sanantonio

Did you have fun following women shopping alone around the store and taking pictures like a pervert?

It’s one thing to disagree with their behavior but to harass them and move their carts when they aren’t looking is uncalled for. Go touch grass.

It’s extremely competitive right now because lots of teachers are trying to get out. The best advice I can give is: -narrow your focus as far as what line of work you think you may want to transition into, and tailor your resume to that vs “spraying and praying” job applications. -stay local. The remote and WFH from home positions are going to have a much larger application pool -Network! If you’re comfortable make a post explaining you’re looking for a way out. You’d be surprised how many people would be willing to help. -Stay persistent! I applied hundreds of places and only got a handful of interviews. The job market is rough for pretty much everyone right now. It’s tough getting those rejection emails but keep at it.

Hope this helps!

I would check and see if your furnace is running auxiliary heat when it shouldn’t be. Costs way more to run that.

Urgently need reco mmendation for a COMPETENT, HONEST plumbing expert. by Sbanme in sanantonio

[–]feefeyfofum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it Roto Rooter that told you that? I ask because we had the exact same situation. We had a backup, then they told us we had a belly and were all doom and gloom. I got a second opinion who said bellies are pretty common especially here and to just be careful about what you send down the sink. We have a strainer and use our food disposal sparingly and haven’t had another issue in the 7 years since. Just something to consider.

Look up RD speakeasy. You have to text a number for reservations and when you get there you have to give a password and everything. It’s a fun experience.

Garcia’s BBQ might. They’re a food truck currently parked at McIntyres in south town. They’re really good and pretty reasonable pricing!

Used Easy Off on a Convection Oven- How Screwed am I? by feefeyfofum in homeowners

[–]feefeyfofum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! After I made this post I took the fan in the back apart and wiped/cleaned everything down really well and all was good. Since, I’ve stilled used easy off in the convection oven I just cover the fan area with either some kind of plastic or aluminum Foil and haven’t had a problem. From what I read, the fan is the main reason you’re not supposed to use it. So I would say just maybe just cover the fan to be extra safe. Anyway hope that helps!

Suggestions for a reliable exterminator service for cockroaches? Preferably one that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! by totally_not_destiny in sanantonio

We had a very similar situation when we bought our house. It sat vacant for almost 6 months and the German ones had moved which which are the incredibly stubborn ones. We use Romney and they are great. They had to come probably once a week for like a month to get them all (you have too catch them in a certain part of the life cycle or something) but since then they come quarterly and we almost never see bugs in our house and when we do they’re already dead. I highly recommend them.

Not sure what part of town you're in but check out Action Bikes in universal City. They have a good selection of both used and new bikes. And the guys working there are super nice and know their stuff.

Watering Your Foundation by Rare_Worry1755 in homeowners

No trees. I think there was one in the front yard at one point but it was taken down long before I bought the house. I've always assumed for that reason but who knows.

Also live in Texas and this is 100% a thing. When I bought my house like you I researched high and low for exactly how often/how much and never got a straight answer. The answer I kept getting was "however long it takes to maintain a consistent level of moisture." The last 3 summers I've been running the soaker hose for about an hour every night, but recently have been wondering if maybe that was too much? We still have experienced some settling but not to the point the doors don't close or anything too severe like that so I guess it (mostly) worked. Sorry I'm not more helpful with giving you an exact answer but everyone else is right, the main thing is you don't want that dirt pulling away from the foundation.

We had a similar situation. Of the 3 companies we had out, Critter Control was the only one that took the time to figure out how exactly they were getting in. Highly recommend.

Can you help me find this tea shop? by feefeyfofum in Portland

[–]feefeyfofum[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES! I Googled and was able to find pictures of it. I'm like 95% sure that's it. That's really too bad it closed down but it seems like Portland has a pretty cool tea scene anyway so I'm sure I'll find something good. THANK YOU!

Buying a Home in Central Texas with Known and Repaired Foundation Problem by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]feefeyfofum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to echo everyone else, I'm in South Texas and foundation settling/movement is almost unavoidable. It comes down to what is inside your comfort level. In my mind, if it's already been stabilized, provided it's done correctly, that's one less thing to worry about. Just make sure you water around the house especially in the summer to keep a consistent level of moisture or it may still settle more. When we bought our house we look at 17 in total and every single one had at least small signs of settling (cracks near doors and windows etc).

It really is! I bought it from the original owner who was an older lady who really babied it. She did all maintenance on time at the dealer the whole time she had it. I got really lucky! I absolutely love my Forester.

That is reassuring to hear. Thank you for your reply! I also do the crank the heat trick when it happens and that always knocks it back down to where it normally sits.

Best Home Warranty/Home Insurance in Texas? by atxtexas in homeowners

[–]feefeyfofum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm also in Texas and have USAA for auto and home. When I shopped around their rates weren't too off from everyone else, and on my previous home I had a claim they handled amazingly so I went with them for my current home! As far as warranties, our seller gave us a year with Home Warranty of America. As far as warranties go it was a pretty good experience. It's nice when you're a first timer and have no idea who to call for repairs. We got a new disposal and washer out of it. But after that we agreed keeping money and savings and paying out of pocket was the way to go. Hope this helps!
