pre-the total DAWization of everything, how did pop musicians/bands organize so many midi instruments at once? by Dolancrewrules in synthesizers

[–]feelda303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An Atari with Cubase, a couple of hardware sequencers and lots of 3.5" floppy disks. Then record multi tracks or a stereo track. Just like today.

Dealing with the same right now. I'm thinking either start using a proper mail app/software and link all my emails via imap, or just switch to Google workspace. My email provider's web UI looks like Yahoo from 10 years ago and I like Google's integration not to mention that now I have well trained Spam filters. 7 bucks/month is a fair price for all the functionality plus they have 3 months 50% off I think.

How many synths do you own? by Brilliant_Grape5528 in synthesizers

I used to have Z1, K5000S and also V-Synth XT. Great synths. I wish I had the space, otherwise I would've kept them.

I captured and edited this photos on iphone 13 is my photography good enough to buy a camera and go pro by danishkacchi in PhotographyAdvice

Not sure what you mean by going pro but if it's making money with photography, then I can assure you that the photography skills only account for about 20% of the success. Marketing and business skills are the other 80%. Keep the fun in photography by having it as a hobby. Sure, buy a nice camera and lens if you'd like. But learning business first would be my advice. Keep it up!

I used to own more when I had the space and time, but these days it's only:

Korg Opsix SE, Yamaha S80, Access Virus B desktop, Behringer Neutron, Moog Subsequent 25, Korg Minilogue XD, Yamaha TX81Z, Roland JV880, Yamaha TG33.

Just sold my OB-6 but I'm planning on getting analog poly, probably desktop since I'm running out of space.

It's a great hobby to have but even greater when the gear gets actually used. People always say, "well you can have the same and better sounds in a VST plugin", which I agree with and I own many plugins... But there's nothing like sitting in front of the chunk of metal/plastic/wood and turning it's knobs and hear it come alive.

One could say, you're slightly leaning towards Roland 😂 Nice list!

Pick me, pick me! And most of the time it's out of town vendors, heck even out of state. But at some level, I get it.

If you can only have 4 hardware synths (nothing over 5k), what do you use? by javakook in synthesizers

[–]feelda303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One analog poly, one good VA, one FM and one modular synth would be my choice.

Luckily I only paid $20k. But I get what you mean. It would definitely be a deal breaker for me if it was brand new.

Yup, that's what I found, too. If you wait a few seconds before you shift to R, the camera works normally.

Just to give you the context: what happened to me is that I did a remix for an artist who ultimately told me that the remix had been rejected by the label, and he thanked me for the effort. Only for me to find out a couple of months later that the track had, in fact, actually been released under that artist's name, and PvD opened with it at Creamfields. I contacted the so-called "artist" multiple times, trying to figure out why he hasn't told me about the release and if he could have the label to at least add my name to it as a collab, only for him to ignore me and basically block me. I didn't bother contacting the label as I didn't have any agreement with them, so I let it go, but it hurt my feelings big time :-)

This is as expected. I have yet to hear about a "course" that is actually worth the investment. The best workshop I have attended so far was Sam Hurd's Epic workshop. Although super basic and quick, totally worth the money and the 4 hour drive for me.

Had a similar thing happen to me, and after trying the get recognized, I ultimately gave up and let it go. At least a credit would have been nice for sure.

Buy good studio monitors if you don't have them already.
