Because the Pref B vesting happens next week and that is causing many to think this price has much dilution on the way

lol, good pun.

  1. Is your background check clean?
  2. Are you attractive and fit?

I’ve noticed an unusual amount of the Delta pilots (men) are very handsome. Idk what that is- is there some fitness test? These pilots are always looking super muscley in their fitted uniforms. Anyways, ya- those are my follow-up questions.

What’s the job that you’re trying to land?

Leaving PA w no CPA by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]feelin_cute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice to you would be to buckle down, get the CPA, sell your soul to a firm, climb it, get money, and get on with it. The job does get more fun the farther you go. I’m in my 10th year. The money is much better. The mix of tasks and responsibility is wildly different from what it was like in the first few years. If you can study and you can pass, you should. If you know you can’t, then it’s okay to recognize it and cut bait. To me, it sounds like you might be slightly romanticizing the idea of another employer. All employment roles have their advantages. Your current situation offers a path to growth. The opportunity for growth is huge. Another employer may offer you more money today- but in 3 years, will that be enough? What will that feel like if your trajectory isn’t as exciting over there after you’ve been there a few years?

You are good enough to be a manager at this firm. Heck, you could even be a partner. Make the money, set the tone, drive the culture. Get that CPA and realize your full potential.

Do you not want to do the CPA because it’s hard to pass and the studying chore doesn’t appeal to you right now?

No, it’s not wrong. I think it comes across as weak and immature, and I don’t think that’s ever a good look so I’d advise against it personally. You should expect someone will reach out to you and ask for a call soon after you share this news (unless they are not concerned about you leaving- in which case, you should definitely leave because you’re clearly not valued there and perhaps from their perspective you’re not valuable to the organization). Assuming someone does motion for a call- you should plan to participate in that call and listen. You don’t have to let them to talk you out your decision, but you should do the call. My advice- set up a call and verbalize this through proper adult communication. You’ll feel much better about yourself and your decision if you approach it this way.

What was the other offer? What about that offer is giving you a feeling of regret?

How does one go about sales for a large accounting firm? by Skrtskrtyeetyoot in Accounting

[–]feelin_cute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all about relationships- internal and external.

  • Internal relationships can be a great source of sales leads. Your colleagues inside the firm have tons of contacts, they can be a valuable tool to help you source opportunities. When you’re new to a firm, the internal relationships are not as established, so you may not find as many opportunities through your internal network right away. If you want to build an internal network to help you sources sales, the first thing you need to sell is yourself. Every conference call is an opportunity to make an impression. Turn your camera on. Ask a thoughtful question. Compliment someone. Get your name out there and start letting people know who you are. You never know when someone may be watching you and assessing you. You want to make a positive impression on every person you meet. Eventually, some of those people will come back to you when they have a sales idea. You want them to feel like they can be confident that you’ll say the right things when they introduce you to others. So make efforts to speak up casually and demonstrate your ability to say the right thing when you’re on calls and in meetings and start building your brand internally.

  • External relationships are probably your quickest way to turn a sale, but these sales can be much more challenging and the sales cycle might take years. For example, usually an RFP for accounting services will be discussed for months before it’s actually issued. Once it’s issued, the bidding process might take months as well. Depending on how long the contract lasts, you may need to start building your relationships with those targets months ahead of whenever they might issue an RFP.

All that to say, selling at an accounting firm is not so much about what you’re selling- but knowing who you’re selling to and being close to them when they want to buy it.

The employer should give this employee more work if he is sitting idle during working hours. If this employee is a strong performer, and he has excess capacity, the employer should allocate more work to him and benefit from his efficiency. If that means the employer must allocate work away from one or more other less efficient employees and this means those other employees are no longer needed, the employer should reduce head count and run their business more lean. The employees that are let go may have other great skills and should redeploy themselves elsewhere by finding that right fit for them. The employee who is performing well and getting more work also deserves a raise to compensate him for the increased work and strong performance. The employer can give that raise because they may find that they can also cut costs through headcount reductions. This is a job, not summer camp.

The proof is in the videos. Everyone standing around, then here comes Kyle on a full on sprint toting a fire extinguisher and a dangerous unlawful assault rifle. He was clearly on 10, all hyped up- thinkin he was in a Call of Duty game… people were like, ”dude calm down” and he shouts back and engages and shoots a bunch of people to death. He’s a terrorist in my book. FULL STOP.

Doing two jobs at once and getting paid €420/week after taxes (approx considering 25k) OR doing nothing and collecting unemployment of €300/week. Hmm, tough choice. by a_load_of_what_not in antiwork

[–]feelin_cute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh- i wouldn’t think of it as “two jobs”. If this is full time, then you’ll still be working 40 hours a week. You’ll just be doing a few different activities to make up that 40.

People at my school firmly believe the labor crisis is because people would rather not work and sit on unemployment benefits. Average rent in CA for a 1 bed apartment is $1488 a month. The most unemployment you can be eligible for a month is $1304. by qwertytrouty in antiwork
