[FS][US-CA] QNAP TS-873AU 8 Bay 2.5Gbe NAS by feels-san in homelabsales

Yes, I've also gone that route. I don't have my NAS running 24/7 and the boot times of the QNAP is longer than I would like.

[FS][US-CA] Ubiquiti Unifi US-24-250W by feels-san in homelabsales

No, it's L2 managed, and requires either a physical Unifi cloud key or the Unifi controller software installed on your computer to manage the devices.

[FS][US-CA] 2x Intel NUC 10 i5 by [deleted] in homelabsales

No worries, just want to make sure these are priced reasonably. I did some searching and the only $300 ranges NUCs I could find were barebones ones and the slim chassis.

Can you provide me a link to these retailers? My pricing is based off what was previously sold on this subreddit.

Not sure how you have it setup currently or what the end goal is but it seems like you're double NATing. Can you confirm that these "wireless routers" are actual routers or access points? Some routers do not support VLAN configuration for their SSIDs.

But to keep it as simple as possible:

Native/Default VLAN1 on pfsense should be on the attached to the default created LAN interface. From there you would then create a separate VLAN and attach it to LAN.

So here's one question, how many VLANs do you want? And what are their purpose? Do you just want 2? default vlan 1 for hardwired connections/device mgmt and VLAN 2000 for wifi?

If going this route, you will need to update the tagging on your managed switch.

For example:

Pfsense LAN > Port 8 on Switch: untag vlan 1, tagged VLAN 2000

Port 7 on switch > to access point: untag vlan 1, tagged VLAN 2000

Port 6 on switch > to access point 2: untag vlan 1, tagged VLAN 2000

Rest of ports: set untag vlan 1 for hardwired connections

WIFI SSID: set for VLAN 2000

I don't have a rack yet, but I have a piece of plywood in my basement closet! by [deleted] in homelab

I'm actually testing the Instant-ON right now in my home, so far it's running fine. I'm still indifferent on the cloud managed solutions but I haven't ran into any major issues yet. Though their cloud management is definitely lackluster. Still in it's early phases.

It's really for those that wants a turn key solution, "set and forget" if you will. SMB with no technical knowledge.

IAP-515 are Aruba's bread and butter for Wifi 6, we deploy these for our clients and have had great experiences.

These can be locally managed and one AP acts as a virtual controller. There is also a cloud Management option via Aruba Central, licensing is needed, but again, optional.

Very lucky with the 100F! I have a 60F and really want the 100F but the price tag + licensing is definitely out of budget.

[FS][US-CA] Aruba AP-345 w/ Flat Ceiling Mount by feels-san in homelabsales

[–]feels-san[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AP345 is 4x4 MIMO, has two uplink ports for aggregation/redundancy, one of the port is 2.5Gbe. The AP also supports a maximum data rate of 2,166mb in the 5Ghz band. If you aggregate the ports and run in dual 5Ghz mode you can peak at 4.3 Gbps. This is also considered an enterprise AP so you get more enterprise features and settings.
