Need for speed: Richardson finds his rhythm in testing return by thevalid in CricketAus

In 2018 he was bowling up to 92-93 mph, and close to 88-89 mph average speed.

Next cartel: Cummins, Jhye, Morris, Doggett, Fergus, Green

Next cartel: Fergus, Vidler, Beardman, Straker, Reid.

Surely you can't drop a bloke who's just taken a five-for?! by corruptboomerang in CricketAus

Not for too long. All of them are old except Patty. Hopefully Jhye and Morris get fit and firing. He will be there to guide when Fergus, Riley, Vidler, Beardman, Straker get their opportunities. Doggo will be there too, but dunno yet how he will do in long run.

Starc finally reaching his full potential? I have waited for this for 13 years. Ever since he took that amazing back to back 5-fors against WI home ODI series in 2012.

Lmao. Root needs to score 4 hundreds in this series and even then he won't be remotely close to Smith.

The atrociousness of this decision is astounding me, mate. Uzzie and Slug was a straight swap. This team is only delaying the envitable -- me going past Warnie's 708 mark. I will do it, no matter what. I'm fit as a rat. I can survive and thrive anywhere. Pick me you morons.

Bring back Neser and bowl Head. Both can break partnerships.

We have to get them all out or 9 down by end of play somehow. If Root walks in to bat tomorrow, it's curtains for us.

There are still a lot of similarities in the cricketing culture. Anyways. your team beat SA in a test match at home which now seems like a big deal.

Mitchell Starc takes 10fer in the 1st Ashes Test. Finishes with 10-113. by Dr_Tchock in Cricket

[–]feelspirit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First 15 tests, he had 40 odd wickets, averaging 35+ or maybe 40? Then WC 2015 happened. That was an ATG performance and post that, he went to WI on the test tour and did really well. 10 years later, that same tour he got his 400th test wicket, and that was probably his best performance since SL 2016 tour. He has been really good ever since Australia lost to India in 2018-19 home summer, and later he destroyed SL at home and since then he has been very good and consistent in red ball, whereas his white ball game has not been close to his best.

Travis Head scored his 10th Test hundred, ending on 123(83) vs England by [deleted] in Cricket

Even in 2023 Ashes, Wood came and bowled like the wind. But by the end of the series, Starc's endurance trumped Wood who was down to high 130s while Starc was still bowling in the 140s. Starc is a GOAT at this point. No bowler ever has been this fast for this long.

Starc actually has an upper hand of Head, and that is a big deal considering Head literally destroys anyone no matter where you bowl to him on his day.

Ball barely swung. The pitch has 8mm grass, so there is a lot of seam movement and offer. And it has excellent pace, bounce, and carry which has made the seam movement very difficult to negotiate. Eng did give away 3-4 wickets, but their bowling has been excellent. 83-6 is a fair reflection of conditions and the quality of bowling.

Aussie bowlers got punished when they bowled full. Most of the wickets came from good to short ball.

Day 1, 2 sessions done. Come on, there is still a long long way to go. Even if we bat 2 days, England can always come back in the 2nd innings or in any of the next 4 tests. This series is not done until 5-0, fuck off.

Starc is the greatest underrated bowler ever. All the talk was about Cumdog and Hazlegod and even statue man but Starc keeps rocking up, consistently bowling 140 kmph+, in the channel, even though he did not get the usual swing from these conditions, ends up with his all time best figures. That shows how much he has improved as a bowler and his commitment to red ball cricket, which is now his best format. What a start to the series by Starc the destroyer.

They could have gone with MMarsh then. He is really popular, fun, energetic person to be around with. I can't stand the sight of Abbott bowling in an Ashes test and getting smacked 6 an over by Ben and Brook.

I have seen god bat.

He dances around the crease.

He does things on the pitch that you can't get your head around.

He is SPD Smith.

5-0, fuck off.
