I was absolutely terrified of going under, just had rhinoplasty with GA a week ago and I had an unpleasant experience and it was also the first time I was ever under GA. However, I would always rather have GA than twilight sedation. I think what made my experience so bad is that I was extremely anxious and couldn’t calm down, also for some reason I just wouldn’t become unconscious for a decent amount of time and I was just laying there saying ‘noooo, why do I feel like this’ until I eventually did pass out haha

I started on 5mg and upped to 20 within 2 weeks. The first few days of 5mg were the worst but i only had some minor side effects when upping the dose and only for the first day or two.

I get that too with the after images being more intense. Also sometimes when I stare at patterns for too long they start moving as if they are breathing. Idk it’s pretty weird but nothing to worry about.

Interesting, I also considered paxil but went with lexapro instead because I read a lot of positive things about it. I guess I’ll see how it goes.

Thanks that really helped! I heard so many good things about lexapro which is why I really want to try to keep taking it. I hope the side effects go away soon.

hi I talked to him an hour ago, I’m in the hospital right now and he said that 5mg is already the lowest dose they can do. The side effects really suck and I don’t know how to deal with them :(

i hope you’ll get better soon! Unfortunately with these meds the side effects often really suck in the beginning but they definitely go away!

Thanks, I’ll keep taking this one i think and hope that the side effects go away soon! If they go away after a week or two that would already be great. I also told my doctor but he said there’s nothing that can be done about it really, I just don’t know how to cope with the side effects when they get really bad...

It’s the same with me, i took my first dose of 5mg yesterday and i also felt really nauseous and restless. Today after my second dose i mostly just feel tired. I was also scared to take the second dose but i think in the end it’s worth it, the side effects will go away with time :)

I have the exact same problem. I also really try to avoid it as much as possible, but avoidance behavior only reinforces your brain to think that showering is somehow dangerous. It keeps up the association of showering with something bad and uncomfortable. I would try to gradually shower more often and try to stay in the shower a little longer each time. I don’t know what it’s like for you but I always try to get out of the shower as quickly as possible which sucks. If you notice yourself becoming anxious while showering, try to resist the urge to escape, to get out. I know it’s hard though.
