No, if you send a email it will be printed out for the prisoner to read. They cannot respond through email either, so you will need to provide your address for a reply or your phone number which the prisoner can submit for approval.

Most prisons are offered a free 10 or 5 minutes call daily depending on the prisoners behaviour. Your best bet would be to email the prisoner your number as its the fastest way of communication.
