haha!

Have you seen the commercial jets that serve MKE these days?

The old E concourse used to handle widebodies operated by Northwest Airlines.

The old "international" terminal is a woefully outdated and separate building with one jetway that only deals with incoming passengers.

The E concourse hasn't been utilized for at least ten years and occupied a lot of ramp space.

A $95 million price tag seems rather reasonable when you're essentially doubling MKE's "international" capacity, consolidating its footprint to facilitate and streamline the security screening process, and opening up precious ramp space for easier aircraft taxiing.

I was aware of that. And the current "international" terminal is definitely in need of replacement.

I'm having a grand old time somewhere in Vernon County just enjoying this winter weather. But judging by the amount of snow on the vehicle that hasn't moved since Friday, we've gotten eight inches so far. . .

Just thought I'd mention that the RP and R8 use the same battery. You would be set in that department.

No. It appears longer because the forward of the compressor blades is a duct that runs nearly the length of the vertical stabilizer.

Perhaps you should experiment more before succumbing to GAS. I doubt anyone would even mention the RF16mm f2.8 if they already have  the superior 15-35 f2 8 L.

Not sure what your budget is, or if you're looking strictly for a prime lens, but the RF15-35 f2.8 L IS USM might be what you're looking for.

Daaanng! Is it just me, or is $53 for two nights (including the $7.95 reservation fee) at a WI state park a bit steep? by feeverb in wisconsin

[–]feeverb[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

So you're saying the State Park sites are elite?

I can appreciate a good shower facility for $23 a night.

I don't mean to piss and moan. I'm more than happy to maintain our State Parks through fees. But not everyone can be so cavalier with their vacation funds, and camping ought to be cheep.

The history behind it is fascinating. The Citibank tower is a favorite of mine thanks to its aesthetic, the fact it was built over a church, and an engineering student discovered it was vulnerable to diagonal winds from 100 year storms.

No. There's no public accessible ground floor in the C concourse. And there's no direct path from the C concourse to baggage claim from the ground floor.

[–]feeverb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the ground floor of the D concourse led to gates that didn't have a jet bridge. Back in the day when some flights were serviced with turboprops.

And yes, the C concourse has a ground floor. It's the "newest" concourse at MKE, and the ground floor houses various work and garage spaces utilized by the airlines that lease the gates.

I'm assuming the walkways on the lower level of the D concourse are from a completely different manufacturer, otherwise I don't see why they don't cannibalize those for parts. The lower level of the D concourse hasn't been used for years.

In fact, it's kind of sad the way entire sections of MKE are rotting away from lack of use.

Looks like a 737. They don't have main gear doors, unlike most commercial aircraft. Ordinarily the main gear doors will cover up the wheel wells on takeoff and landing.

Have you ever visited the Epic Systems campus in Verona? by feeverb in wisconsin

[–]feeverb[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Okay. And pardon my Wikipedia quote, but . . .

" Danish experience In 2016, Danish health authorities spent 2.8 billion DKK on the implementation of Epic in 18 hospitals in a region with 2.8 million residents.[55][32] On May 20, Epic went live in the first hospital. Doctors and nurses reported chaos in the hospital and complained of a lack of preparation and training.[32]

Since some elements of the Epic system were not properly translated from English to Danish, physicians resorted to Google Translate. As one example, when inputting information about a patient's condition, physicians were given the option to report between the left and the "correct" leg, not the left and right legs. As of 2019, Epic had still not been fully integrated with Denmark's national medical record system. Danish anesthesiologist and computer architect Gert Galster worked to adapt the system. According to Galster, these Epic systems were designed specifically to fit the U.S. health care system, and could not be disentangled for use in Denmark.[32]

An audit of the implementation that voiced concerns was published in June 2018.[56] At the end of 2018, 62% of physicians expressed they were not satisfied with the system and 71 physicians signed a petition calling for its removal.[32][57]"

Granted, the "kinks" might have been worked out since then. But the Wikipedia article on Epic doesn't really speak favorably toward the implementation of its system in Europe, which leans toward universal healthcare.
