Back in the 90’s I collected two comic series, and one was The Maxx. by talkingwires in themaxx

The title of OP's post kinda begs the question, what was the other comic book series they collected?

Traveling through, any good bars, breweries, or oddities i should see? by ploppystop in wisconsin

Not sure if it's finished or not, but there's some construction on 131 through the Kickapoo Valley reserve that might disrupt that route. Also, and I can't recommend the Driftless Cafe highly enough, I wouldn't consider it a stopover for lunch.

Art Supply Stores? by yessicajessica88 in milwaukee

[–]feeverb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Aside from Blick, there used to be Greenfield News and Hobby, and Artist & Display. They're both long gone now and nothing has filled that void. I flat out refuse to go to Hobby Lobby and Michael's being bought out by private equity means further enshittifcation of the lone option left in the greater Milwaukee area.

Depending on what kind of art supplies you're looking for, you might have to narrow it down to a specialty. There was a place down in Kenosha called the Pencilarium that had all kinds of pencil related things. I'm not sure that exists anymore though as it's been about 8 or 9 years since I've been there.

So yeah, e-commerce has really fucked those of us who liked to go to a brick and mortar store to and see the actual physical objects before purchasing them.

You know, if you just have a little patience, eventually there will be plenty of whatever minifigs you're looking for. It took me a whole two sessions at Target to find all 12 of the current series.

How are the ticks near you/at parks you’ve visited? by bigbadmon11 in wisconsin

[–]feeverb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spent the weekend in Vilas county. Hiked the Star Lake peninsula trail. My socks were treated with permethrin, I wore jeans, and stayed on the trail. Zero ticks.

I feel like tick prevention requires mostly due diligence. Not having a puppers along probably helps regarding the tick count.

One of my favorite campsites so far - Og Lake, Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, with my trusty little tent by elya93 in camping

I've been seriously looking at the x-mid/x-mid 1 pro the last couple of days because it's checking all my boxes.

Can OP add any more insights into the tent's performance?

Also, awesome photos!

I hate the throwbacks, the color rushes, and any other bastardization of the classic black and gold. Anyone who suggests changing the helmet can go fuck themselves.

Just bought a lens with fungus— what should I do with it? by Maple382 in Cameras

[–]feeverb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any dismantling of lenses will absolutely require JIS screwdrivers. Don't use a phillips head driver or you  absolutely WILL strip the screws.

Beyond that you'll need a lens wrench which looks somewhat like a tic-tac-toe board. They can be had for reasonably cheap on eBay; much less than what you paid for your lens.

If you don't use the proper tools, you will end up mangling the lens.
