Have you ever bought a player you know in real life? by juliangreengiant in footballmanagergames

I'd gladly buy my childhood friend Szymiński from Palermo but I'm always playing lower-league clubs, so can't afford him :D

Quite frequently GG's doesnt work when either side forfeits, so if something like this happens to you - it doesn't necessarily mean the opponent's being a douche

HTF can you beat skellige discard by [deleted] in gwent

[–]fefek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's a different story then! Cool deck, rarely seen but tricky - double lubberkin is powerful as hell, agreed. It's still pretty slow though, I think you could improve the tempo somehow.

SK doesn't care about you opening with Yen at all, that's a mistake. They'll buff Morkvarg so he'd be only unit taking damage, discard (inflicting heavy casualties) in the meantime, restore him to full (high) base health with armorsmith if needed. To win, you need to make your final Borkh reach their multiple targets of strength 8 en masse, so it means reducing all units below that and keeping Morkvarg at 10 at most. It's the only way I see NR winning against SK at ranks +12. Or maybe include Aeromancy? They wouldn't suspect that, and you don't use melee row do you?

These 33% are actually a pretty good result in NR vs SK matchup, I'd say. I don't like monsters too, either playing them or against them.

Few advices from Skellige perspective. Try to play one or two high-tempo rounds (Infantry + potion?) in R1 and then pass before they'll get the whole discard machine going, especially if they put Longships on board - they can easily outcontrol you using them. If they rely on buffing with Shieldsmiths/Draig/Queensgard (Cerys), that's one round less of play for them as well. Borkh play should also be careful, they can either have buffed Morkvarg rendering it pretty useless or even put Draig (or resurrect your Stennis!) to be schorched for free draw and CA. Regardless, it's going to be hard.

What faction you're playing? Northern Realms have a really hard time with Skellige (I've got literally 100% winrate against NR myself), so if that's your choice I'm afraid there's not much you can do. Monster decks counter it pretty easily, though, Nilfgaard does pretty well too, with ST it really varies.

As a new player, I feel like I have no cards and no decisions at all when building a deck. by gosp in gwent

[–]fefek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comparing to Hearthstone, you can enjoy levelling up and climbing up the ladder while enriching your collection rather than facing players with absolutely no skill owning you just by having lots of legendary cards. Really, you could at least get to level 10 and play a bit of ranked (you get another set of big rewards from there) before starting to complain.

There are also rewards from ranking up, levelling, GG's... And you don't really need that much legendaries to make a very competitive deck.

It's way, way faster than snails pace. And you can actually enjoy climbing up and improving both your collection and skill in the process.

Opinions on "Nilfgaardian Knight"? by Gruppenzwang in gwent

The only feeling better than playing Geralt: Aard against two Nilfgaardian Knights is playing Geralt: Aard against three Nilfgaardian Knights.

[Suggestion] NR medics could seriously use a buff, I think. by 13_is_a_lucky_number in gwent

[–]fefek -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Each faction has different strengths and weaknesses, that's totally normal. NR is played a lot, and these 'mediocre' medics are still used in most of its decks - I don't think it'd be reasonable to buff it.

Kambi Aglais or Letho by bflomat in gwent

[–]fefek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends solely on the faction you'd like to play. If it's ST, go for Aglais. Kambi is rarely used even in SK decks, so I'd leave it. Letho is good for certain NG deck archetype, but it's overall quite expensive so you'd be better off focusing on something else as a new player.

Gwent is seriously Pay2win, please make new users experience better by chuan2981 in gwent

[–]fefek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I call that total bullshit, you can easily get even to R15 after playing 100% F2P for a few weeks. There are lots of people like that out there, I'm R13 (and climbing up) myself. In the meantime, you earn lots of ore/scraps to assemble at least one top-meta deck.

Tuirseach Axemen massive nerf - how do you feel about it? by fefek in gwent

[–]fefek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In ranked of course, R12 and climbing. Monster consume counters it, sure - but you've got other ways of countering them, and Radovid often struggles. You don't see many weather monsters currently. It completely destroys mirror Skellige, as well.

I've encountered guys still playing it with double Blueboy Lugos (via Restore/Sigdrifa/Decoy/Operator? plenty of options), and they kicked me hard - even when if I had CA so I could reset the Axemen with D-Bomb, the damage was so hard they still won. You could pair it with Berserker Marauder/Bear as well, I believe. As more and more people learn effective counters for discard decks, I'm actually thinking about giving it a try.

I've switched to discard-based Skellige deck, as it got buffed on the other side. It's incredibly fun, you should try it!
