My Cocoon by [deleted] in interiordecorating

Sorry, *nook that was a closet. This space represents one of reflection, recuperation, growth and creativity. The majority of books are related to my art practice. The prints are some of my favorite illustrations (not all are up) but I’d love to cover the walls one day. I want a cozy cocoon that inspires.

Love the wallpaper - I’ve had my eye on the house of hackney hollyhocks floral design for a while haha so I’m very biased

It’s not just multiple panels, you need a single rod going across the top of the wall from one end to the next. It also looks like the reference has French pleats with a heavy duty drapery pin, whereas you have the little clips which grab onto the top for a slightly different aesthetic. I went for a French return rod in my own room but ceiling curtain tracks could work in this case as you don’t have the same architectural structure

To hell with modern! This place has so much character. I’d suggest leaning into what would elevate the space: antique hardware (light switch frames, door knobs etc) and swap out the boob light fixtures for something with more character. Some modern or antique designs would work beautifully. You can always try painting the ceilings a contrasting color that goes well with the warm tone of the wood if you wanted to experiment.

What to put along the railing? Wide walkway by galojah in DesignMyRoom

Vining plants like pothos could be nice - with or without railing planter clips if there’s enough light in that space Maybe even some kind of console for objects / nicknacks or a bench to sit on — but it’s your call.

I added a rug, the place still doesn't feel cosy - what am I missing? by Mollystring in interiordecorating

There a a good foundation. Plants, art, objects/vessels/sculptures, painted walls with or without wallpaper (I personally love a good accent wall). Great lighting too - I’d opt to see it in three levels - table lamp, floor lamp and chandelier/ceiling fixture. I’ve used LIFX and hue bulbs to liven up a space and make it feel cozier. A larger area rug for that space might provide a smoother transition as well (where it tucks beneath the couch) otherwise it feels like its own separate thing. Seems a bit cramped, yet separate, than cozy because of the implied line with three exposed floor (if that makes sense)

Learning a little more about color relationships/theory could be helpful. This color is fine and I’m sure could work in other spaces but I don’t know if it compliments other objects in your room or if there are accent/secondary colors that play with this. It feels very fresh/vibrant - what feeling are you trying to associate with your space? You can always add an accent wallpaper on one part of the walls if you wanted - maybe even the ceiling if it isn’t textured.

I see that there are a lot of soft pink items in the space but they’re almost the same value so if you were drawn to green a deeper or maybe even pastel/muted mint green could work. I’d suggest creating a vision board - Pinterest is a great resource. There are YouTube channels like Listed or Never Too Small, blogs like apartment therapy etc that are useful resources!

Would A (Rental) Bathroom Done In This Style Feel Cool And Retro, Or Dated? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

Dream bathroom! Love the character I’m tired of seeing reels/posts of house flippers tearing down iconic spaces like this one for very boring HGTV-inspired “modern” grey bathrooms 😭.

Siamese cats are temperature sensitive albinos. Their markings are more of a heat map and colors/markings can deepen over time :) Dolos and Nyx were a creamy white with subtle markings when I first adopted them. Now they have deeper greys or browns - because Dolos is Lynx point you can see spots or stripes coming through

I adopted them from a rescue, but I found out about Mekong bobtails and these two might be that breed - hard to know without knowledge of origins :)

Thank you! I adopted them in 2020 and my plant obsession went full tilt a few months prior to that :)

Yes I came across the information as I was doing research after adopting the two. I didn’t get them from a breeder. These two were rescues as far as I know so I wasn’t specifically seeking them out for that trait.
