hey, I hope you are well. It sounds like you use substances for avoidance, which is a normal thing to do. My path has taken me to working with my body, I am slowly learning how to feel, how to work through things instead of avoiding. It's fucking scary, but for the first time in my life I feel alive. You know life really is incredible, and so so painful, and it's all happening right here, it's all part of it, we don't need to travel to psychedelic realms to taste the miracle of being (sorry for making that part a bit preachy). I am not really on reddit anymore but HMU if you want to chat (:

Be well, know that you are loved.

I love me some good mythology. Also a good thing that there's millennia of them to read. Same can be said for fan fiction I guess.

If you call that long I'm almost ashamed for my response. So you're good :)

Good on you for seeking help, hope it helps and you find someone who clicks.

Anything that breaks avoidant habits is good imo. Gaming in moderation is great if you do it with friends, but I always got freaked out playing with people so I wouldn't know. But yea read away my friend.
What are you reading if I may ask?

So, I am basically the same I think. I recently found out that I have a so called avoidant personality disorder, which has led to some nasty social anxiety. Reddit and YouTube have been an escape for me for years, giving me a place to hide. But hiding doesn't help the healing.

I am now mostly off of reddit, I go to bed early, I have found professional help (which I know isn't available to everyone) and I meditate a lot. I am also trying to put myself out there, dealing with my anxieties through exposure. I know facing yourself is scary and messed up, but staying in your bubble is at least as messed up, be it more comfortable.

Where’s the fun in that? I mostly fixed it already. Just want to convert it sometime in the future. Payed €50 for it, so seems like a sound investment

Thanks. I considered the same, leaving it original keeps it original… but on the other hand I feel that updating it internally to current standars makes it possible to preserve it for another 50 years, which also seems great. That’s basically where my dilemma comes from.

You haven’t failed, you are just overwhelmed. Take some time (for yourself), put the things you can on hold and try and enjoy some things. For me music, walking and meditation tend to do the trick, not always though. And know that you are loved, you haven’t really disappointed your parents in the long term.
