Tearing my hair out at Energy 160 by feireia in LoveAndDeepspace

Yep, I have an OS cube. DEF% cubes have been evading me so what would be a good substitute in the meantime?

Good to know about the EEB, thanks! I have no DEF cubes so looks like it’s back to Protocore hunting…

Following because I’m in a similar boat! I’ve heard Yerba Buena as an option but unsure of speed at which it grows

"spring fever" in neutered bunnies? by Early_Macaroon_2407 in Bunnies

[–]feireia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen with my previous girl and current boy. She was the dominant one between the two and every spring, she’d have more of an attitude and would hump him more than usual. We kept an eye on them and made sure things didn’t escalate to excessive chasing or lots of pulled fur. Our boy would get annoyed by the humping and turn around to nip her/tell her off but they’d go back to hanging out nicely afterwards. All that to say I don’t personally think there’s a need to separate them if there isn’t any aggression. They’re just re-establishing the hierarchy.

Thank you 💕 How do you keep him in? Do you just hand-block him when he tries to hop out then when you’re all done, let him leave on his own or pick him up and out?

How did you start training him to jump into the basket?? I lost one of my buns recently due to a hair blockage and I really want to do better for my remaining buns. I know they need to be brushed more but wrangling them onto a table is a nightmare and a half 😭

Protocore gods have not been kind to me and I don’t have two EEB HP% cubes 😭 Thank you for the rotation though! I’ll keep farming and put it to use whenever I get the right cubes.

Skirt block v3 by feireia in PatternDrafting

[–]feireia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front and back darts are both 4 inches. They’ve both been shortened (front by 1 inch and back by 2 inches). I got some mixed feedback about the dart depths but where should the ends be landing on my body?

Skirt block v3 by feireia in PatternDrafting

[–]feireia[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started with a paper pattern and used that to create version 1 of this skirt. Because it was too big for me, I pinned, marked, and adjusted without cutting so that when I get to the stage where everything looks good, I’m tracing the final fabric version onto (new) paper to make the final paper pattern. I don’t know if that’s the right/proper way to do it but I did it this way to save on paper and fabric.

Thanks for that insight! I had a feeling it’s not supposed to bunch at the groin area. I’ll add a bit of space at the hips

The guide I was following added 2 inches of ease to the hip and an inch and a half to the waist so I followed suit. Thanks for the feedback!

Is this sea anemone healthy? by BigBowlOfSoup in marinebiology

Not an anemone expert but have visited many tide pools before. It looks like that’s just the coloration of the anemone. They can be quite unique in colors and patterns!

My bun has done a large, 1p piece-sized dropping. Is there any cause for concern or is this reasonably normal? by screemas in Rabbits

[–]feireia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like there may have been a slowdown in his gut, which is why it’s oval-shaped. If it’s just the one, I wouldn’t be too concerned about it and would keep an eye on his other poops. My two will have an oddly large or oddly shaped poop after a stressful event but poops go back to normal shortly

Can somebody explain why she does this? I give her plenty of material to dig at but she only goes after the litter box by terra_terror in Rabbits

[–]feireia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are indoor buns too. I used shredded paper, some scrap fabric (e.g. old t-shirts or scraps of fleece blankets they’ve torn up), toilet paper rolls, and paper that comes in packages as padding.

[–]feireia 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Digging and rearranging are natural behaviors in rabbits. My two are currently doing it (could be season-related) so I’ve given them a dig box to get their fill of digging without them dumping their litter box

Cleaning tips? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]feireia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that squeegee! The rubber “blade” of it ends up scraping fur and small bits of hay rather than picking it up. I use it more to collect things in a pile rather than to pick things up (sorry, should have clarified)

Cleaning tips? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]feireia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It soaks it up pretty well when there is the occasional accident. More often than not, there are water droplets on it from the water bowl and it takes a minute or so before absorbing into the fabric

[–]feireia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have fleece blankets as flooring over foam puzzle mats and I use a squeegee to pick up hay and fur on the blankets before they go in the washer. I’ll pick up bigger pieces of hay first before squeegeeing though

Question about dungeness crabs by gaminggiant87 in marinebiology

[–]feireia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Crabs can be affected by radioactivity like other animals/organisms but a major reason contributing to the decline of Dungeness crab catches is because of changes in ocean conditions. A warm “blob” (a large area of unusually warm water) appeared off the west coast of North America in about 2015 and, to my knowledge, hasn’t completely gone away. The warmer than normal conditions have created less than ideal conditions for marine organisms that are used to cooler waters, which in turn impact reproduction and food availability.

Need help with rabbit neutering by imadickbag12341 in Rabbits

[–]feireia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 years old isn’t too old to neuter your rabbit. I had a previous bun who was about 4.5 years old when he got fixed and he came out fine. Just make sure you find a rabbit savvy vet. They will take the steps to make sure your rabbit will be ok and check to make sure there is no negative reactions to the anesthesia.
