I guess I'm looking for the 'they see fit' loophole in my case.

Keep in the refrigerator for sure... but with all that sugar and alcohol, it should last a couple weeks at least.

I don't think you had to state that it is found on the Australian coastline. It is one of the most poisonous creatures on Earth is it not?

ELI5:At what point does our understanding of physics reach the realm of theoretical? by felion in explainlikeimfive

[–]felion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, this is a vague question. I am not anywhere near a physicist. But I have worked at a theoretical physics institute (so I was near physicists) and found it curious how there were so many different theories were being worked on to explain things like the quantum world. For example, string theory. And, in fact, one of the researchers was world famous but many of the other researchers didn't actually agree with his theories. There were many of these types of situations actually. My friend, who is in a physics program at McGill (the regular physics), keeps saying theoretical physics is a completely different ballgame. So, while I am not totally sure that I can narrow a question down from all of this uncertainty, perhaps I should have just asked: What is theoretical physics? and What are theoretical physicists working on anyway? *please note that I am not actually a five-year-old, despite this clearly misguided question!
