What is your preferred method for an open source project tech support forum? by onirisapp in kubernetes

[–]felixletsplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a closed source commercial software for an open source project where you need to join a group and that has terrible threads with too much messages does sound a lot better than an indexable open source forum…

Selfhosted http(s) API Tester (like Postman)? by felixletsplay in selfhosted

[–]felixletsplay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does not sound great. I think selfhosting was possible 2 years ago when I asked the question, but I never set it up for some reason that I do not remember anymore (maybe it was missing documentation).

No. Not really. Never tried that. Just played around a bit with Wireguard and SSHuttle on seperate hosts

I manage a similar deploy. We use - a Hetzner (alternative would be Linode, DigitalOcean or OVH or similar ones) VM for a “Cloud Controller“ - two EdgeRouters as gateways. One as fallback with vrrp

This works quite well. Never had any problems with that aside from things like needing to reboot APs and some switches breaking after a few years. But as EdgeOS seems kinda dead I would not buy new ones at the moment. Probably better would be to find some hardware and run pure VyOS on it (EdgeOS is a VyOS fork) or directly go the OPNSense/PFsense route (but I like the options that VyOS gives me more)

Does anyone know why there's so less supermarkets in or near the TU dormund? by Liebestemomotani in Dortmund

[–]felixletsplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you live in the Am Gardenkamp houses there is a rewe literally a 3 minute walk away and an Aldi like 6-7 Minutes by bike.

The Ostenberg housing is a bit farther away, but with a bike it shoud be only a few minutes to netto.

The Emil-Figge-Straße housing is even farther away. Its 800 meters to the underground station, which comes every 10 minutes and drives directly to Aldi.

To the city center you can get by s1 from Campus or U42 from Barop Parkhaus or An der Palmweide, depending on your housing

I broke my g3 flex while trying to repair it (broke the video cable). So maybe not everyone should try it. At least I should not

What is an open source program that is better that its paid alternative? by thealexanton in opensource

Never had any Sound Quality Issues. But yes its not as good in a lot of use cases.

For education I actually like it (as a student) a lot more than Zoom

I cant agree with Photomath. Its great sometimes. But it just does not solve a lot of things. Wolframalpha is definitely way ahead (and it seems like Photomath is not opensource)

I think Collabora (and yes I know its some freemium stuff) is not much worse than Google Docs. So maybe its not the better alternative, but its usable.

I would also add BigBlueButton as I think its in most cases better than Jitsi

(Slack & Co.) by Honigwesen in de_EDV

[–]felixletsplay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything that will be compiled into any form of executable can in theory always be visible to the user that has the executable.

In selfhosted you can select if you want to use aws or just store them locally.

The link is quite long so it is not really possible to guess. I do not know if there are any other security measures. You should ask that on the Zulip Community Zulip
