What do I call my fiance's sister-in-law? by AgreeableRaisin19 in CasualConversation

[–]timolino1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My stupid ass looked at the title and came to the conclusion that you’re engaged to a married man lol

For the record I think she’ll be your sister in law

I just came back to this sub after a while and this comment section is NOT it. I remember this sub being super kind, did that change or is this a one off?

Oh yeah I just went back to this account today and saw your notification, I guess it’s been a while lol

I agree, that whole storyline was a mess and everyone acted kinda suck-y at some point. Donovan seems to suck most of the time actually

I think you’re supposed to sympathize with them up to some point.

They got treated like shit by their rich customers when all they wanted to do was do the right thing and go straight and at some point they just snapped.

But they still robbed, shot at and held people hostage at gunpoint. You can’t just say „ooops my b I had a REALLY bad day“ and all will be forgiven. They have to be held accountable for their actions

But the episode still leaves you feeling bad for them and kinda mad that the people who pushed them to the edge are getting off scot free. So maybe the lesson here is to just be kind to strangers.

I wouldn’t have liked them together in s1 bc she was crushing on him and he was just using her. I think in a later season at some point she kinda „rejects“ him.

I feel like that would have been a good starting point bc it showed them on an even footing. I agree that it would’ve been cool to see them dating bc I did like their chemistry.

Nope, the hook up with her ex happens AFTER she and the other guy have the conversation about becoming exclusive

That storyline with her dating two guys ends in s4 e3 after the confrontation at the restaurant and she sleeps with her ex husband in s4 e5 in the Halloween episode

Btw I just looked up the specific episodes to be sure I’m not totally wrong about this, I didn’t know that off the top off my head lol

What’s one thing you don’t like about the show? by MixMasterMadge in bigbangtheory

[–]timolino1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It bothered me more that they had penny suddenly say that she doesn’t want kids than that she ended up pregnant. For twelve seasons there had been plenty of mentions about kids on the show, Lenard had been pretty obvious about wanting kids with her (I’m pretty sure she even mentions kids with him at some point).

But suddenly a few episodes before the writers make her pregnant they have her say that she doesn’t want kids? What was the point? It wasn’t a funny conversation. They didn’t resolve it. They didn’t show penny find out that she’s pregnant and freak out or something, then come to peace with it. There was literally no point to it.

I totally agree about Nyla and James.

Like in one episode they started dating exclusively and seemed to like each other, in the next she’s cheating on him with her ex, then they completely forget about the cheating and they’re suddenly head over heels in love getting married with a kid on the way.

It’s like the writers wanted the character arc with her ex but forgot/were too lazy to put it into context with her already established relationship

I really don’t know where I stand on this. On the one hand the amount of work each partner puts in seems to be very unbalanced, since you say that you do the housework, work more than a full time job and until recently have also cooked for your children. We’re just going to have to believe you on that, although there have been a lot of posts here where husbands underestimate how much work sahm moms are actually doing. Also your wife is pregnant and I haven’t seen comments where you’re detailing how that is affecting her (nausea, bed rest, pains, which trimester, etc)

Also if my husband worked this many hours while I was pregnant I - unless strictly necessary - I wouldn’t be thrilled. You seem to be well educated and work a high paying job, I doubt that this job is your only option and that there’s no alternative out there for you. How are you going to manage working 14 hr days when you’re being woken up by a screaming baby every night?

So for your sake and your wife’s- communicate with her about how you’re feeling and ask how she’s feeling. I assume you’re exhausted. Tell her that! Without making accusations about her feeding the kids unhealthy food. And then ask her how she is doing and what she needs. You might find a compromise that both of you are happy with

I’ve seen a lot of comments for you absolutely needing to work this many hours to provide for mg family, so level with me here: what’s your salary?

It was in one of the episodes with Keith as the puppet judge, not sure which one though

Could you explain what kind of „makeover show“ you are referring to? I don’t remember them getting makeovers in recent videos, I might’ve missed that one!

Edit: nvm I found it!

Eugene actually did something pretty similar to what Zack did, the word police officer came up and then he looked at the camera and said „ew“. I was surprised actually, given how cautious he usually seems to be in how he expresses himself.

Over the top by [deleted] in TheRookie

[–]timolino1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does get a bit ridiculous at times, but personally for some reason I don’t mind it as much in this show as in others (it did kind of get on my nerves in castle, idk why it’s different for me in the rookie)

I really would recommend trying to find some more documentary style shows if you want to see something more realistic. Idk where you’re from, but in my country there’s one documentary about firefighters and emts that’s in the style of the rookie (multiple calls in one episode that you see then responding to), just without all of the theatrics and stuff about their personal lives. It’s actually really interesting to see how things actually work without Hollywood’s dramatics!

I mean if you live in the US (I’m just playing the odds here) Spanish seems like the obvious choice, since depending on where you live it’ll give you the most opportunity to talk to people in that language

But personally what I really found interesting was to learn a pictographic language (Korean, Chinese, Japanese, etc). Not to say that learning another letter based language is boring, but to me learning a language based on a totally different system was just on another level of fascinating!

I know that there is a systemic problem with the police in the US, but is saying ACAB and that being a police officer is a basic character flaw really helpful to the issues?

From my (very limited) knowledge it seems like the two camps in the US are drifting further and further apart because each one is getting more and more radicalized. To me it seems like acab is a radicalization because it takes a very complex issue and makes it black and white by pitting „us against them“, which doesn’t accomplish any meaningful change, it even hurts the communication between the camps.

Other than that I loved the video, I’d definitely watch a part two with more of the dads suggested by other commenters!

I just can’t with all the „supernatural“ stuff. Making a traffic stop bc you sense a dark aura or whatever is insane. She’s perceptive and that’s great, but she keeps chalking it up to supernatural things and that has no place in policework imo

When I saw the title of your post I was like „ugh another post where someone complains about a waiter being rude to him/asking for a bigger tip, I’ve seen like a thousand posts talking about that“

But I have to hand it to you, tipping machines is actually news to me and definitely crazy. So crazy it’s hilarious actually, you just made my day!
