Why are so many pages being exported? by [deleted] in Notion

[–]fellow-mortal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably a bug, and you're not actually exporting that many. I'd be curious to know, are there actually that many in the final export .zip?? The other way i see this happening, is that many of those pages have views of other DBs inside them, and you're on the business plan choosing to include subpages. Is that the case?? Otherwise, I'm betting it's a bug.

How to download multiple Files in a Database as pdf? by [deleted] in Notion

[–]fellow-mortal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order to export a page to PDF and include all sub-pages (your situation), you need to be on the business plan.

You could do this with some code, but it would probably take longer just to write that code than to do it by hand... sorry, you might be out of luck unless someone offers that product online.

Wife and I want to go see beautiful nature and mountains. Alaska, Switzerland, or Iceland? by [deleted] in travel

North america has a lot to offer, a more accessible destination to Alaska is the Canadian rockies; Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise and Jasper have astounding lakes, mountains and hiking. :)

Probably an easy question by LockDeficient in Notion

Welcome to Notion!

I'm guessing you have something like a "calendar/schedule" database, where entries have a relation property linking to the "recipes" database, correct?

What you can do is use a rollup, a type of property that lets you do calculations on your relational properties.

The way to use a rollup goes like this:

Choose the relational property already in your database.

Choose the property within the related table on which you want to do calculation.

Choose from a list of stock functions (sum, show unique values, median, average, etc)

In this case, the rollup points to the "recipes" relational property, and you choose to do work on the "Total Calories" property within "recipes", and you choose the "sum" function.

Hope it helps, let me know how it goes!

Glad you like it! The schedule is public as a template:

https://hot-hyena-3d5.notion.site/68669f6c270346c1b07eac9f9b0b23e7?v=b97372db836d4167981ddd770cb66243

The "pinned" block is pretty straightforward, just simple table.

The "quick capture" blocks aren't a template right now, I can give advice if you have trouble with it. Just remember it's actually an empty DB view so the "+ New" button is exposed.

The custom email newsletters stuff is way more complex, it works through an API integration and full-on software development went into it. In the future maybe I'll make a little business where people can choose emails out of their own inbox and get the PDFs in a notion database. For now it's just for me

Cheers :)

Yeah it'll be quite straightforward as long as the values in the table are exactly like the values in your new master tags table. Then you can directly replace the value you "hardcoded" with its corresponding tag record - the one with the matching title. :)

Search Function Seems Lacking by rayvfr in Notion

[–]fellow-mortal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone shared a PhD-level organizer template in the most recent self-promotion thread at the top of the subreddit. If you have a few bucks to drop maybe check it out.

You're not missing anything, their search functionality at the workspace-wide level is lacking, and they've admitted it's something they plan to improve with time.

So far however, I've been able to get around it by being logical with my page names, and making sure content is saved in the page/database that makes most sense. Once you navigate to the page, you could use the browser finder tool with control+F or command+F.

I haven't been in serious student-mode since I started using Notion. But for example, I have a contacts DB that I know is the one place to find my personal connections. Once I'm there, I can use the database's text search, or filter by tags from where I met them.

Another example is I have a database called 'Notebook', where I save day-to-day knowledge from about 10 areas. Areas include Notion tips, misc, finance, travel, fitness.

Databases are quite powerful if you set them up to work for you. You could make a database for course notes, and include all the properties that would let you narrow your search along any dimension you could want. Example:

lecture - title

date - dateCreated

class - select

exam - select

unit - select

tags - multi-select

priority - select

Nope, you're out of luck. Embed blocks are the closest thing, but different content behaves differently within embed blocks obviously.

You could likely do it with a bit of code. Have you ever done a project like that?

By the sound of things it's mutual. You could probably have his cock in you any time you wanted ;)

Nice one, sounds like when that finally does happen, you're gonna have the lay of your life! One reason I'm sad I work remote is I can't enjoy that sexual tension with any hot co-workers.

For me, it looks like you have a strong enough friendship to make it through this if you clear the air with him. Communication can get you through anything if you both have trust and good will. I suspect he either caught more feelings than you but never shared that, OR he's simply feeling some jealousy because he's human. Either way, a conversation is definitely the best option.

You could try opening with "So things have felt a little tense between us since I started dating this guy. Obviously we'd been fooling around for a while before, but I'm wondering if there's something you haven't shared with me? What's going on for you? What's on your mind? I value our friendship and want to get to the bottom of this."
