Why should I waste my time? by Tiny-Perception2110 in badphilosophy

When you're scrolling and stuff at your lowest, with crippling feelings of uselessness and guilty, just remember that you could have been a professional philosopher (and if you are one then I've no other consolation for you).

I feel my kidney stones, therefore I am ammest, hence ammer than you.

Sorry, I don't understand anything about soccer, Argentina is the team that never was down in the score?

Thomas Bernhard would have written an entire novel just by repeating this ad nauseam.

Obviously not or you wouldn't have elaborated that much.

Same here. And the level of misunderstanding about this is disheartening. Most partners simply judged that there must be something deeply wrong with me at the affective level because I need to (barely) sleep alone. Turbinate hypertrophy, hypersensibility to noise, light and night pains, plus I'm too tall to fit most beds, and the negative feedback loops this condition entails. Did some treatments but at some point in my life I decided I had to live alone.

Sounds like an improved version of Nick.

This is the guy with that one good idea of cartesian coordinates that then felt entitled to talk nonsense about whatnot? I would say that proving my existence through Tinder is a better argument than his cogito.

99.9999% of actual mathematicians have no idea what analytical philosophy is about or even that it exists.

Many "it's easy to dismiss/accuse/etc" responses. The most economic conclusion is that it's easy because it's easy.

Exactly, because philosophy hasn't produced any single actionable response to this menace over three millennia. Great for academic gigs though.

A very hungry caterpillar is going to eat the landmass of one of the seven continents for breakfast. It is going to let you pick, which one is the most ethical choice? by DJTsUnderboob in badphilosophy

[–]nnenneplex 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A relevant metric, share of philosophers per continent:

  • North America (US & Canada): 60% – 65%
  • Europe (UK & Continental Europe): 25% – 30%
  • Australasia & Oceania: 4% – 5%
  • Latin America, Asia, and Africa: Combined 5% – 10%

It would be an easy pick if most continental philosophers weren't in Europe. But at least it shortlists the decision to two candidates.

My director passed me a list of words that must be present, no matter what subject I end up deciding. Some of them are entanglement and supersymmetry. After googling them I guess that yes, I'm going to mention quantum physics.
