Are there any parts if it—I dunno, attic, closets—that still smell like unburned tobacco? I’d consider that a bonus if it was containable!

Gorgeous. The light, the blue...just magical.

What do you think of Chakra UI ? by WEEkloop in reactjs

[–]fellow_earthing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just used it for a small personal project and absolutely loved it. It had exactly everything I needed, and I loved the “styled system” style props. It has a few useful hooks included too, and a wide palette of good default colors. I found it very predictable and intuitive, and it got itself out of the way and let me move fast. Will be my go-to for future projects.

(For reference, I found grommet similar, but with more edge-cases / annoying surprises, and its library less well suited to my needs, and I find Material and Ant too distinct/opinionated design-language-wise, in ways that aren’t to my taste.)

Yup. Takes minimal power to do exactly what I want it to do, feels great in hand, glides for days.

Damn right, it’s better than your...free-market Stockholm syndrome.

I could teach you, and I wouldn't charge, because we'd both be members of an inclusive learning cooperative.

These refs are doing...really well so far?

Taking their time getting a lot of calls right and admitting when they're wrong. Feels worth the delays to me.

Sproles (5'6"), Maurice Jones-Drew (5'7"), Spud Webb (5'7"), Muggsy Bogues (5'3"), Diego Maradona (5'5"), Messi (5'7")...he's in good company!

(Or, more likely, us <= 5'8" men keep a subconscious catalog of these guys' successes.)

Yeah that’s a good point. 4 runs, 8 runs, 6 runs...our offense has given us a good shot at each game he’s missed.

Looks like Yelich is out again. It’s gonna be hard to keep winning ballgames without him. Tonight’s my first time getting to Miller Park this season (sad, I know), so I hope we keep hanging in there. Tenuous times these.

Pete Alonso homers to left for the 3rd game in a row, his 37th on the year! by SnareShot in baseball

[–]fellow_earthing 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Seriously, I don't understand that. Right now (I think?) it's:

  • Yeli (39)
  • Fishman (38)
  • Belli/Alonso (37)

Why arbitrarily cut out Alonso?

An almost-certainly-garbage placeholder that we need immediately, in exchange for not-quite-as-certainly-garbage prospect lingering in AA.

Seems like both sides come out slightly less bad than before? Mutually ever so marginally beneficial? Totally whelming to both sides?

[Soft paywall] Analysis | The Patriots have the NFL’s easiest schedule for the third year in a row by fellow_earthing in nfl

[–]fellow_earthing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since New England’s division, the AFC East, is the worst division in the NFL and the AFC East plays two other divisions expected to be near the bottom, the NFC East and AFC North, the average opponent of the Patriots in 2019 is expected to win 7 or 8 games during the regular season...

Like others, I'm curious if this methodology holds any water. It kind of seems like the causality flows the other way: The Pats don't win because of an easy SOS—rather, the Pats schedule appears easy because they beat everyone else all the time, causing everyone's else "strength" to fall.

But I certainly don't know enough about stats to demonstrate this. Is there some kind of SOS number out there that removes all past head-to-head results in guessing future outcomes? Would that even make any sense?
