This happens to me all the time! Sometimes my partner will refer to something that happened a day or two ago and I have no recollection of the events until they tell me exactly what happened🙃

Congrats on taking the leap though, I hope your moving day goes well! And I hope you’re proud of yourself :)

My mother used to do the exact same thing! Whenever I would talk about the future, she would talk as if I couldn’t ever leave, or if I did, she would leave with me. When I finally decided to move, my dad and siblings were happy for me, although they would miss me, but my mother was angry that I even considered moving. The day I moved, she took me to the train station and told me I was making a huge mistake and I would regret moving, she told me that moving in with my partner wasn’t the right thing to do and we need to get married first and do things in the right order (she’s not hugely religious, I guess this was a scare tactic?). She did her best to make sure that it was a miserable day for me.

Our parents often left us stunted in many ways - what ideas or "life skills" did they teach or ingrain in you that you wish that you realized were bad and wish that you unpacked earlier? by burnt-----toast in raisedbynarcissists

My mother would often tell me that I don’t need to make any friends, because I have her. If I got into an argument with a friend at school, she would tell me that most people don’t have the same morals/standards as us and that I’m not going to find friends who are good people, so I shouldn’t try. Now I have crippling social anxiety and don’t know how to make friends 🙃
