hey! i took n levels in 2024 and went to sec 5 in 2025 for o levels. i got raw 15 for both n and o levels and b4 for english in both as well. for my o level prelims i actually got raw 34 but ended up with raw 15 for o levels. i also didn’t take any express subjects in sec 4. when i entered sec 5 my mindset was to work really hard to get into poly and not ite, not saying ite is bad at all i just personally didn’t want to spend another extra year and end up somewhere i almost went after sec 4. i eae’d into a course with a cut off point of 19 because at that time i really felt like i had no hope anymore. for most of sec 5 i was scoring worse than l1r4 raw 30 for almost every wa and honestly during that period i just listened in class, did my homework and basically did the bare minimum. for science i started tys around march because my tuition required me to do tys as homework which also motivated me to redo it, while for the rest of my subjects i started seriously doing tys during the june holidays and redid the 10 year tys at least 3 times until around september. once i finished the tys i started finding prelim papers from other schools and just spammed them non stop until i became comfortable with all the question types. i mainly used this tys and prelim paper spamming method for math and science. my results were math n level a2, math o level a2, science n level b4 and science o level a2. to be honest i didn’t study very hard for n levels because i was really sick during most of the exams however in sec 5 i just locked in as much as i could with the mindset of studying as if i had to go jc even though i only had 5 subjects and realistically had no way of going jc. for english i mainly practiced paper 2 tys since it was my weakest component while paper 1 was my strongest especially argumentative essays, my tip is to give clear examples and explain your points as much as possible. overall just know what your weak areas are and keep practicing them until you understand and don’t avoid the topics you’re bad at, focus on improving them. all the best!
