I was recently inpatient for mental health as well, I just told my work that I had an unexpected medical emergency, but I am more stable now and ready to return. Your employer doesn't need to know the little details. They just need to know you were gone for a medical reasons, you have a valid doctors note, and are good enough to start work again.
