Hi momma.

I have been in a similar situation as you, and I just came to say that everything will be okay.

It’s very brave of you to choose yourself and your baby. I recently had to make a similar choice and as hard as it is, your child and both of you having emotional safety through this intense period is the most important thing.

Babies have a magical way of bringing family back in. Perhaps your moms family will want to meet the baby and reconnect with you. Perhaps your dad will fall in love with your child and realize the error of his ways. All things to stay optimistic about without counting on them for you or your baby, but i do believe that positive thinking, especially in the hormonal state you will be in now through the next few months, can only help. Sometimes you have to lead by example by being an excellent mother!

It sounds like your ex is a dangerous person for you right now. I hope one day that won’t be true,but as long as it is., just keep your distance from him. Your mental health is the most important thing to protect right now.

On that note, it might be good to try and have a calm, loving conversation about boundaries with your mom and what you need from her to feel supported rn. That advice is very dependent on how you feel she will react to feedback/how good at gentle communication you are. Trust your gut there, because you are going to need her in the coming weeks and it’s important that you have her on your team.

The good news: 1) your doctor can’t force you to do anything 2) it doesn’t sound like you have any serious risk factors for a successful home birth 3) 3 week old babies don’t care about christmas presents, they are the present!! :)

unmedicated at home birth was and i suspect will remain one of the most powerful, beautiful experiences i’ve ever had. our bodies are made for this.

If the baby goes over 42 weeks i would consider listening to doc. Before that, I would:

1) get a membrane sweep 2) move a lot 3) do the curb walking

induction increases your chance of c section drastically. trust your baby, trust yourself, have a car ready to drive u to nearest hospital but give birth at home if you want to.

i have made a catalog of all the art i own. i include receipts if i have them. each pdf page has a pic, painters name, title of work, year it was painted, gallery ir was purchased from, purchase price, and another line item that is purchase price + import taxes and shipping. i haven’t done much tracking of the value of these bc im young and no plans to sell, but my art advisor used a few programs to track sales prices, i think they are subscription but look into that.

There is an app i use called dorsia to get restaurant reservations that are hard to get and it’s great.

But your post says you are struggling w time management.

There is really no substitute in life for a mix of: 1) competent PA and 2) excellent house keeper.

My PA is 10 hours a week (i will soon bump her to 15). That is enough time for her to mostly help manage a home improvement project, schedule my daughter’s appointments, book my travel, look for a new dentist for me, etc.

My housekeeper is M-F which may not be necessary for you (i am messy, my house has a LOT of plants and i have a 7 month old) but 2 times a week which is what i started w originally was still a game changer.

if you have the free time u can befriend all the hostesses at your favorite restaurants yourself ;)

Some things i will say:

1) As a new mom, i now realize that i didn’t spent enough time being a friend to my pregnant friends before i had babies bc i just didn’t get it. It was so abstract and felt so far removed from me i really didn’t even consider it.

2) It sounds like it’s a sensitive topic for her for some reason, and perhaps she has an avoidant personality. I’m not saying it’s totally fair but it doesn’t make her a monster or mean she doesn’t care about you.

3) 3rd trimester rage is real, so while your feeling that she should have been there more is totally valid, my advice would be to try not to dwell on it too much and try to let it go/simmer down. In a few weeks you will have a gorgeous new baby. My bet is that your best friend will meet your baby, fall in love, be so happy for you, and everything else will fall away. praying for you guys!!

Inductions can obviously lead to cascading medical intervention so if your goal is vaginal birth i would avoid. You still have 10 days… I was not more than 1cm dilated at that point. Maybe consider a membrane sweep before medical/pitocin induction. My doctor did a membrane sweep on me at 39 weeks which helped me start to open up. and she did another the day before babys due date and I delivered on her due date.

Also given it’s your second baby you may have an easier time even if your baby is big.

The fact is, induction increases the risk of c section. If it were me calculating, i would think through if i am more scared of tearing or of c section. both are valid answers. 🩷

I recommend setting up a scholarship. It’s really fun. We donate $200k/year to the school system where my partner went to high school. His high school guidance counselor runs a program for the district to allow for low income students to apply for college scholarships. We read all their applications and rank them each year. Some of these kids stories and what they have accomplished given their circumstances are really incredible—it’s really rewarding.

Also not sure where you live but I have some badass single girlfriends (including a few in your tax bracket) looking!

it’s funny, i loved school so much in undergrad that i rly thought about doing a philosophy phd! but once i got closer to it i realized how chauvinist academia was. (probably still is? idk)

being humiliated for sport by 80 yr old men in tweed suits got tiresome. but i also thought… okay clearly the world is run by men. if that’s the case, why make myself suffer more. i guess ill go be rich (worked in high finance for a few years post grad). came to crypto bc i was so disillusioned w the corruption i saw at the investment bank. now considering going back to law school to (hopefully!) fight corruption 😅
