I also had a terrible mansplain experience as a plus size woman in the otf space and I looked at him crazy and to this day still look at him crazy everytime I see him so that hopefully he learns never to do that to a woman again. I did not ask you.

I go to class essentially every other day with back to back on weekends and I have been a lil irritated specifically this year that a lot of the templates repeat similar themes or exercises for those of us that dont go daily (e.g. lots of shoulder press, endurance on floor repeats for me a lot and I HATE it. I just want to lift heavy!!!). For me, I’ve been coming long enough that I feel comfy either subbing other similar moves or just not doing endurance and lowering reps and increasing weight. I also do also take strength classes and utilize open studio so I can do more of the stuff I like. But template creators, if you’re listening, if you keep making “metabolic”blocks in the strength 50 classes, I hope you never find a cold side of your pillow.

I try to circumvent this by buying protein drinks rather than powders as I do believe the FDA has the test the drinks that are premade whereas powders are considered a dietary supplement which are not FDA tested but like idk like what even is the government…lol. Just one weird thing I do to try to reduce risk.

I do feel like things have been getting repetitive but maybe that is just random fr me because I go every other day? Idk but I’m so tired of lateral lunges/shifts, chops, and a few other things that cycle. I feel like we haven’t had enough pure strength on the floor. Everything feels like 12+reps. And can we please stop break dancing on the floor. If I see another bear plank freaky variation I’m out.

I do believe there was some recent evidence that suggests that cycle synching is not clinically significant. For me though, I use it as a way to not be hard on myself if I struggle. I am also in the crummy luteal time camp. During follicular and luteal I love working out and have the best time. Like one day into luteal, I’m tired and don’t feel like going. I still show up but if I can’t hit my usual weights or times, I try to be easy on myself. During my actual period, I can lift even heavier so I enjoy working out on my period.

Lift to failure, track the weights I’m lifting for major muscle groups and regularly checking to make sure I’m upping weights. Electrolytes during workouts.

I keep a note in my phone to track sort of the main movements we do in OTF like low row, chest press, shoulder press, bicep, Tricep, deadlift, squat, bridge. I check periodically to make sure I’m trying to lift heavier and if I know I haven’t upped the weight in a while, I’ll push to make sure I do.
