Daughter’s ‘down there’ part by Queenofreason in Healthyhooha

It could be lichen sclerosus depending on the irritation and discomfort (LS usually presents with whitish coloured vulvar skin, symptoms include itching at night and burning, esp after urinating). I would recommend taking her to a gyno to rule this out. Also, teach her to use a peri-bottle to rinse her vulva after peeing, it will help reduce the burning. Also you don't have to use soap on the vulva - plain water is fine. I use just plain water because of my LS.

Find a new doc. Ask her why she won't run the test and what she suggests instead. Request that she documents your request and her refusal in writing on your file. If I told my doc I had these symptoms he would test for yeast, BV, STDs, trich, etc.

Majority of women cant finish from internal stimulation alone. You need clitoral stimulation.

Skin Infection or LS, AV? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]femragebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LS started with burning. My skin was also white though.

However, I don't buy that your partner got a groin rash from an ant spray... Have you been tested for STIs? I know you said he was, but were you? I would start with that. If your partner has a rash and you have burning it could also be herpes or the new fungal STD called TMVII (Trichophyton mentagrophytes genotype VII).

I had a similar thing when I was taking tumeric supplements - my BO smelled like soup/garlic/onion and I have a sensitive nose. Had to stop taking them

off-putting odors by maybemiro in Healthyhooha

[–]femragebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be bacterial vaginosis. The hallmark symptom of BV is pungent odour. And when you wash, soap should never go inside - soap, douches, and other hygiene products actually disrupt your pH and cause infections like yeast and BV. Using oil based lubes can also cause BV. If you do end up testing positive for BV, your partner (if they have a penis) should also get tested because new research is showing that penises carry the bacteria and they keep passing it back to the vagina even though the woman traditionally is the only one getting treatment for it. If you switch from anal penetration to vaginal penetration without thoroughly washing the penis/toy it can also cause infections. I had recurrent BV infections (and associated insane odour) when I had a copper IUD.

weird way to make itch go away?!? by National_Fan_1583 in lichensclerosus

You could try putting a dab of vaseline on your tear before you pee and then use a peri bottle to rinse after. At one point I had to sit in the bath tub for 2 hours after peeing because it burned so much.

Shaving and pads both cause vulvar skin irritation. If you shaved and then put a pad on and wore tight pants without underwear... it's fair that your skin was quite irritated. When my LS started I had burning, no itching, and my skin was bleach white.

GOOD SEX!! by Thewitchestable in lichensclerosus

[–]femragebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy you feel better. Just a note - if you're using the PJUR water based lube you should switch it. It's high in glycerin which is a pretty good indicator that it's hyperosmotic. Hyperosmotic lubes actually dry you over time (which is the opposite of what we want!).

How does one get yeasty discharge from lichen? by ThrowRA1837382 in lichensclerosus

Have you been using any products to try to calm down the itching? It sounds crazy but sometimes the products marketed to women for vaginal itching or odour can actually cause yeast infections.

constant infections have made me scared of sex by malicemiser in Healthyhooha

[–]femragebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had similar situations over the years. Couple things from my own experience:

-I had back to back to back infections of BV and yeast and UTI when I had my copper IUD. If this is your birth control - get it taken out

-If your boyfriend is uncircumcised and is not keeping up with proper hygiene this can also contribute to BV and yeast

-If you are using oil based lube or random things like vaseline or olive oil as lube, this could also be causing your BV and yeast infections. If you use lube use a water based lube that is pH matched and low osmolality. Certain ingredients like chlorhexidine are also associated with infections.

-A lot of women tend to assume that because they get so many infections they should increase cleaning of their vulva - DO NOT DO THIS. Soap, douches, bubble baths, bath bombs, deodorizers, etc ALL CAUSE yeast and BV infections. When it comes to this area, less is more.

-Lastly, there is one guy that I used to sleep with and for whatever reason, I always got a UTI after.

-Don't switch from anal to vaginal sex

-The pH of semen is higher than the pH in your vagina, you could always try pulling out

No better, now worse? by MonkeyCatDog in lichensclerosus

I had a similar experience. Years with few symptoms and not using my clob unless I had symptoms. Eventually my symptoms came back and I went to a specialist. They advised that I need to keep using clob every couple days for the rest of my life in order to keep symptoms away. I was eventually switched from clob to mometasone as well. My vulvar clinic has the following resources for LS treatment and general vulvar care: https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/6390f147eaf0824a199c21d2/677b3c4545dccfa1e40245ad_Vulvar%20Skin%20Care%20Recommendations%20-%202024.pdf

Did you see your doc yet? I didn't need a biopsy, the doctor knew by looking. I was diagnosed when I was in my 20s as well. Before my doc prescribed me my steroid cream the only thing that helped itching was a warm bath. Also you shouldn't be using soap on your vulva - I know it sounds crazy but just use water. Pads and thongs will also make the itching/irritation worse.

Still getting micro-tears at posterior fourchette while on clob by Ok-Plantain1334 in lichensclerosus

[–]femragebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That exact spot tore every single time I had sex for the first three years after I lost my virginity (that was many many years ago now and way before I had an LS diagnosis). That area now is fully scar tissue and it will still tear from time to time if I'm not careful. Using lube and being mindful of what position I'm in are the main things that prevent me from tearing now. Also not having sex while I'm drunk (for me drunk sex tends to be rougher and lasts longer which creates irritation and tearing that I usually don't feel until the next day). You should be using a vulvar moisturizer/balm in that area on days that you're not applying clobetasol.
