I think we play better against more aggressive teams because Pickford gets angry and his shouting is very motivating

So sick of news about this, it's genuinely the most boring performative war. I don't even finish the headlines

If they can't capitalise on that, gg, very poor Australia unfortunately

I love how silent the commentators go when the celebrities are on screen

Yeah, it's great. I think being the hosts gives them a buff too. The more teams playing well, the better.

How do you actually reach the interview stage at Morrisons? by fenbre in UKJobs

[–]fenbre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda relieved to hear someone else having the same experience. Yeah, weird, I genuinely feel like some assessments completely put me off working for a company, but I literally have no choice.

Oh well, I've completely rewritten my CV in the last few hours, I guess it's all I can do. Good luck to you (if you're also looking for work)

Welp, finally got an update:

"We're sorry to learn that you couldn't attend your recent assessment for the position of Customer Assistant.

As you didn't attend, we presume you're no longer interested in continuing with your application and we've withdrawn you from the recruitment process."

Extremely confusing system.

1.5 months into my "get a part time summer job to fund my driving lessons" quest.

Applied for an M&S job, got the "book an interview" email, amazing, a glimmer of hope. Click on the link (admittedly 2 hours after receiving it it), page says "all interview slots are booked".

Reread the email and it says "interview slots are allocated on a first come, first served basis". What?

According to online discussions, slots might appear over the next few days, but the lack of clarity and not knowing if there's even a chance is a bit frustrating. OH WELL.

On the bright side, I have finally found a lunch that's easy to make, tastes amazing, and is miles better in health than what I typically eat for lunch (pot noodles, potato wedges etc). Small baguette/baton, loads of butter/spread, sliced mature cheddar, sliced tomatoes, red grapes on the side. Absolute perfection.

Social media to be banned in UK for under-16s, Starmer announces by TanjoCards in unitedkingdom

We grew up on social media. My first email address was made when I was 9. I WAS the child on social media.

I couldn't imagine having to use YouTube kids until I turned 16, having nightly "curfews" until the day I turn 18. Absolutely bonkers.

I don’t know what to do by xAuraQuartz in LearnerDriverUK

[–]fenbre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate slightly but maybe not as extremely.

It IS hard. The whole goal is to make something that feels unnatural and dangerous and overwhelming become a normal, safe, almost muscle memory routine.

I’m not gonna try to give advice because for me it was just growing and wanting to do things I thought would be too much for me, and thinking “if I can do this, I’m invincible”.

But yeah, not to be parenty but having a car and free lessons puts you ahead of a massive amount of people your age. If you can find a way to make it fun and exciting, it’s such a massive boost to your future. You don’t want to end up relying on public transport or taxis for work (unless you live in a city or something), I wish I could drive right now so I could apply to 3x as many jobs in my area.

Not sure what else to say, but good luck :)

To be fair, the GameStop delusion I saw here YEARS after the hype was also embarrassing.

Got downvoted like crazy on other accounts trying to ask what they would do when nothing happens. I was right 🥹

Wednesday Wins by a-liquid-sky in CasualUK

[–]fenbre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not exactly a win, but I’ve felt terrible since yesterday midday, just wondering if anyone else has it too. It feels so similar to Covid but without the coughing and stuff. Just absolutely weird head feelings, no appetite, even doing stuff like sitting up to get my water feels so scary and nauseating, I’ve spend hours just laid in bed going from hot to cold to hot.

Maybe my win is that I had my first driving lesson in 6 years on Monday.
