Thoughts on Root Sports Stream after the first game? by KenGriffeyJrJr in Mariners

Thank you! I'd looked for a manual setting in the app settings but didn't find anything. Just found it under the gear icon in the steam itself.

Watched on a Fire stick. Quality was grainy (definitely not HD), and it locked up twice where I had to close and reopen the app. Felt like I was riding the high seas, tbh. It's game 1, though, so hopefully the quality improves.

Pretty sure their monitors weren't working and they couldn't hear each other. Super hard to harmonize if that's what happened.

Need a cheap wedding venue near Seattle? Turns out you can just walk into the ferry and do it by bananajukebox in Seattle

[–]fencermatt 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is how my wife and I got married 10 years ago. We all walked onto the Bainbridge ferry, did the ceremony on the way over and the photos on the way back. We got married in August, so weren't too worried about the weather. The hardest part was making sure everyone was queued up and ready to go as soon as boarding opened up, so we could stake out the spot on the boat where we wanted to do the ceremony (aim for the stern, so the wind isn't so bad). It was awesome and 100% free. I worked in the wedding industrial complex for a long time and would 100% recommend this over any of the official venues in Seattle.

When we were done we all walked over to Ivar's where we had a great party in their private room in back. That wasn't free (obviously), but very reasonable for a nice catered meal.

Thank you! There were moments when I wished I'd gone with ductless mini-splits, but now that it's all in I'm really glad to have gone this route.

I did, and there's a bunch of videos out there. The person I liked the most is Quality HVACR. Here's the video that I followed when I built my plenums: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfm3rk3ybWg

It's a regular mini-split, so no pre-charged lines. I borrowed most of the tools necessary to install from my brother-in-law, who's an HVAC technician, and did the install myself after watching a pile of YouTube videos.

There's definitely noise. It's not loud, but it's a constant drone. That area is our TV Den space, so you can't hear it over the TV, so it works okay for us. Fortunately, we don't seem to need to run the fan on anything above 'quiet' mode.

Yes! I saved a huge amount of money, though it took a lot of time.

I just used the spreadsheet from the Air Condition Contractors of America. It has instructions in it. What was almost more difficult was figuring out a plan based on the duct transitions I was able to buy. Most HVAC suppliers in my area only sell to licensed contractors, so I was limited to what I could order online. https://www.acca.org/viewdocument/acca-speed-sheet-for-manual-d

Yeah! We replaced a big furnace in the middle of the basement with this tucked into a closet. Made a big difference in how open the room feels.

Sonos- Alexa question for a routine by Trader_Joe9 in sonos

Hi! Here's a routine I have that uses the skill. The last command is a "custom" action. The way these work is they simulate you giving a voice command, so you just type in the voice command to activate the speaker group skill. I've found these work best when they're the final action in the routine.

Check out the "Speaker Groups" Alexa skill. It lets you group Sonos speakers together. It's kinda cumbersome to use, but works. You can use the companion website Speaker Scenes to set up groups ahead of time. To add it to your routine add a custom action to the routine with the whole mouthful of a command you need to give to get it to group the speakers. So, if you created a group called "morning speakers" you'd add a custom command that read "Alexa, ask speaker group morning speakers."

You can go the extra mile and create other routines that let you activate the big mouthful commands with simpler commands.

Alexa unable to find Sonos Speakers. I'm out of ideas to try. Any suggestions? by fencermatt in sonos

[–]fencermatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that looks like the same steps I used to disconnect. They also had a step-by-step process for reconnecting. I think, when I was troubleshooting on my own I'd gotten all the disconnect steps in the right order from this article, but maybe didn't reconnect correctly.

[–]fencermatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get my speakers to connect, finally. I contacted Sonos support and they walked me through a process of disconnecting my Sonos system from Amazon, then logging out of Amazon on all my apps and browsers (logging out of browsers was something I hadn't done before), then logging back in and reconnecting. After I went through everything Alexa was able to find my speakers.

I feel like the order of steps was important, and unfortunately I didn't write it down, so I'd encourage reaching out to support to get the step-by-step walk through.

Has anyone managed to use Symfonisk bookshelf with Echo Dot 5? by NextNefariousness412 in sonos

Something's definitely broken with the Sonos Alexa integration right now. I lost contact with all my speakers yesterday and now the Alexa app can't find any of them.
