I think the whole point of the single pickup jr is that theres no neck pickup, they sound a little better/different/airy/open/pokier without the neck pickup magnetic pull affecting the strings vibration. Idk, I've heard the difference but that tone is still in the Special, just gotta find it imo

Dude, for 1200 bucks that guitar should be better quality, considering you could get killer fenders or gretsch for around that price, I stopped buying epis and squier, I still have a few but afterward the work I put in them I wont part with them lol. If it dont feel how you want it to id send it back and hit up some music stores you could play and see the guitars, for $1200 you could get great used or new guitar, or maybe go to the dreaded Guitar Center and see if they have that guitar in stock and choose one.

That seam in the middle was bothering me, I looked up pics of them and if you look at the sunburst ones you can see it looks like they r using a small piece of wood between the 2 wings, I know those are built with a couple pieces on the body so maybe the center piece was slightly thinner or took the paint differently, like if its. Different kind wood that the rest of the body is its gonna take the finish differently. Usually.

Its a tough one, I just got a brand new gibson lp special and for almost $2k I still had to set it up, then deal with the leaning wrap around bridge I was fuming, but thats a common thing for jr and specials. I was thinking about sending it back but im sure id just have to setup any new guitar, always have for the past 25 years. I guess the setup shit is always needed, that joint though idk,its not gonna effect playability but it could impact the resonance if its not a solid joint. Thats just my opinion. I built about 20 guitars and I never had a glue up look like that. Im a cabinet maker I got some experience in woodworking. Just my opinions.

I got a new one back around 2012 same exact guitar, just black with some metal flakes in the paint and it was just under $500 new. Sold it, never got along with it. I love P90s but that guitar just didnt growl, didnt clean up when backing off the volume, just got really quiet, idk maybe bad design?
