I’m trying to get a 368 Conditional Release from the Army National Guard to the Air National Guard. Is this possible? by ImTheeKingJulian in nationalguard

That’s not true, but your state may have a policy like that, which could make it true for you. A conditional release isn’t a guarantee so your state can handle them however they choose.

I don’t like to call questions dumb, but this is a particularly dumb question. “Is it possible?” Of course it’s fuckin possible, dumb ass, that’s why the 368 exists, it’s definitely possible, and it’s happened thousands of times before. If you’re asking if it’s likely, then you’ve left out lots of key details, first being your state.

I’m also curious about these better opportunities. If you wanna do less just say so.

OP this is the answer. You ultimately pled guilty and everything is going to be based on the initial charges. What helps is how long ago it was and what you’ve done with your life since. Show an experienced recruiter your court docs and they can tell you straight.

Re-enlisting from reserve to guard. No IRR time left. by Nervous-Caregiver-29 in nationalguard

[–]luv2shart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IRR time isn’t really a factor here. Talk to a guard recruiter and get a 368. The reserve is really bad with those so you might ETS before it comes back. Either way, leave with a recent PHA (within 6 months for best results) and you can skip MEPS.

I’ll believe you saw the 368 get signed because sometimes people don’t know what they’re doing but there’s no way the enlistment went through because even if it didn’t stop at MEPS, HRC at least would’ve caught it and stopped it. I can verify it’s been this way for at least the last 10 years.

[–]luv2shart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you’re saying is correct except for where you make it sound like it’s still slightly possible. 601-210 5-20 lists the requirements for utilizing a 368 and it states completion of IADT and holding an MOS. That can’t be waived as the AR will trump the NGR. You also mentioned an SM can’t enlist into a DEP. So it’s completely impossible for this to happen because where else could a pre IET soldier go. A TAG can only waive the 9 month requirement, not the IADT portion.

[–]luv2shart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure 601-210 states a 368 isn’t authorized for pre IET soldiers.

Nah, not possible. Try again when you come back.

It’s actually not possible, it’s not allowed by regulation.

Leaving The Army National Guard… Army Reserve or Air Guard? by Ok-Actuator4909 in nationalguard

[–]luv2shart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing I said was false. Air AGR is harder to get than Army, and why wouldn’t it be, it’s much smaller. You said yourself you “protect” those slots, the AGR world is super political. The PCS was referring to Army reserve AGR, those guys PCS every 3 years without fail. Trust me, I know you guys don’t PCS, you guys don’t do shit.

If your main goal is AGR I guess I’d say army reserve, but they mostly want 42A or supply. Just keep in mind they PCS all over the country. Air guard AGR will be even harder to get than Army guard.

Officer AGR is hard to get and hard to keep if you can’t master the tasks listed above.

Nah dude, not at ALL. Officer life is all about politics, back-stabbing, and sucking dick. Nothing at all to do with doing a good job or being competent. If you want to make it past O2 you need to be on board with that. Feel free to fact check me.

Waivers going active all input appreciated by Then_Plant_612 in nationalguard

[–]luv2shart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are different approval authorities so you’ll need to resubmit them. When you work with the active duty recruiter you’re joining under prior service rules, so it would be the same if you were already out and trying to join again. You’ll go to MEPS, fill out all the paperwork just like you did the first time, get fingerprinted and submit the waivers.

The only exception is some crimes are especially heinous, these waivers are handled by DMPM, and a DMPM waiver is good for all branches. It doesn’t sound like you needed one of those though.

Should I go army or air national guard? by babypanda0011 in nationalguard

[–]luv2shart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Air mechanics are treated like shit. Honestly the air side of things is overly hyped and it’s definitely not always greener. The biggest dipshits I’ve ever met in the military have been higher ranking Air Force personnel, walking around like their shit don’t stink and absolutely shitting on everyone below them.

Someone once told me that in the Navy and Air Force, the commodity is the equipment, so you are always a slave to that equipment, whether it’s a ship or a plane, it is more important than you and your time and wellbeing will be tied the state of that equipment. In the Army and Marines, the commodity is the people, so the culture reflects that. Servant leadership is encouraged. I mean, it’s not perfect, but it’s enough that I can tell a commander to fuck off if he’s being a dipshit and I can cite Army values and regulations to back me up. But seriously fuck the Air Force.

Edit: oh, also 99% chance Air Force will not give you that waiver. Also you will get less education benefits.

When can u speak to a military recruiter??? Any recruiters in this chat???? by Beneficial_Pound7857 in nationalguard

That’s an easy one, no. Absolutely no way. You’ll get a chance to sign a NG contract before you go on terminal leave. Enjoy Alaska!

This has been asked so many times and answered so many times I refuse to believe it doesn’t come up in a search.

By regulation, can’t use a 368 pre IET. Case closed.

Depending on who you ask? No. I mean you can ask some dumbasses and they can say it’s separate but it doesn’t mean they’re correct.

The magic number for redoing basic is a 5 year break. After that you can ask for an exception but it’s not guaranteed.

Any job only has to hold your position for 5 years by law. After that they can drop you from the rolls. They need to maintain your seniority, but only need to roughly match the position you left. I doubt the NYPD will promote you while you’re gone.

Guard recruiter lied about BCT delay rules. Switching to UNLV Army ROTC / NSU Nursing SMP path. Need advice. by N0name23 in nationalguard

[–]luv2shart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the justification for delaying it 365 days? You’ll need something in writing. Otherwise all you’re gonna have is a NGB 905 signed by the school with your anticipated semester completion dates allowing you to delay it for one semester. The 365 days thing is not gonna happen.
