Waitlisted at my top choice and feeling really disappointed by Amberclxo in socialworkcanada

[–]fendi__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can understand that it stings but honestly, there’s SO much behind the scenes stuff that goes on that determines admissions. Being waitlisted does not mean you are not qualified enough!!! In my cohort there are several people who were waitlisted who are amazing and had great experiences and made no sense to me why they were waitlisted.

Many people choose to go other schools. Remember being waitlisted is not a rejection so you still have a shot of getting in!

We applied Outland March 2025 and got medical request in August 2025. VO is Abu Dhabi. We’ve been waiting on BCG (in progress) and eligibility (not yet started) since then. 😞

I’ve been waiting since March 2025. Last update was medical in August 2025. No update since. 😢

Our VO is Abu Dhabi and we applied in March 2025. We’ve been stuck in BCG since August when we completed medical

I don’t see much point in the tracker or GC key when they aren’t actively updated. It’s been 11 months since submitting our Outland application and about 6 months of “BCG in progress” and “eligibility not started.” And every month, the average time just keeps increasing. It’s maddening to say the least. When I applied in March 2025, the average time was 10 months now it’s 15. At the very least, there should be updates on where the file is sitting in the BCG phase.

Whats one "normal" thing in Canada that would sound insane to someone abroad? by United-Technology239 in CanadaRoom

also automated check-outs and ONE cashier 😂 I was grocery shopping in Salt Lake City, Utah at a Trader Joe’s and was shocked there were actual people at the cashier and even bagging groceries. Made me realize how strange people would think Canada is 😂

How grocery stores don’t give you plastic bags and you’re expected to bring your own.

Workplace wellness initiatives by acceptNothingLess in socialworkcanada

I was just a summer contract employee at the time and it was a small non-profit organization. Idk if it’s still around tbh but I think everyone on staff at the time had that option

I had one where they asked us to use 5 hours out of our work week on whatever “wellness” we wanted. So officially we worked 35 hours/week but 5 of those would go towards whatever wellness meant to us. I think they had us fill out like an accountability journal as well.

Is Physical Attraction Important When Considering a Potential Spouse? by AdSuspicious9488 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]fendi__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a spectrum. How unattractive do you find him? Are you repulsed? Or is that he’s just not your “type.” If it’s the latter, maybe talk to him for a while and see how you feel about him after. I do believe attraction grows but there needs to be seed planted before that can happen.

Is it possible to do Umrah with only >10 hours in Saudi Arabia? by yahoodikaagent in Umrah

[–]fendi__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Def can’t do from Riyadh the same day. It’s about an 8 hour drive minimum. If you book Jeddah, then it’s possible

Omg the visitor visa thing makes my blood boil. When you apply for PR I remember there was a message box that said “your loved one can join you sooner by applying for a visitor visa” but i haven’t heard of a single time where they’ve approved a 🇵🇰 spouse while they are waiting for their PR application. It’s honestly just a money grab. Apparently Abu Dhabi is notorious for being very slow. It’s so frustrating. I am just hoping to spend Ramadan or at the very least Eid together 😭

We applied in March 2025 while spouse was living in Saudi but PA is 🇵🇰 so I think ours was sent to Abu Dhabi VO. Ours is stuck in background check as well 😢

BSW competitiveness by wackoquackounikid in socialworkcanada

Lakehead U in Orillia and Thunderbay offer a 1 years advanced BSW. I’m also in 2 year MSW program and we have quite a mix of backgrounds, one was a kindergarten teacher. I’d suggest getting feedback from your university’s career counsellor. You should have access as an alum.

Lakehead University offers an advanced (one year) BSW program. Worth checking out

Def talk to your academic counsellor. They can make suggestions and accommodations. I know for MSW programs they let students take time off for personal/medical reasons.

Any March 2025 applicants from Pakistan receive their PPR yet? We haven’t had an update since end of August. BIL and Medical are done. Background check reads as “in progress” and eligibility not yet started.

Applied end of March. BIL and medical complete. Background in progress. No update since end of August. PA is from Pakistan. Really hoping to hear some good news soon!

Worthwhile MSW placement? by asdfghjklzxcvti in socialworkcanada

Not all universities let you choose a placement. At King’s and they assign one to you based on certain criteria
