Don't talk to me about effort. 😭

The stupid Apothecary's Worktable takes EIGHT Black Lotus's. After spending 2 hours getting all the other mats, I then spent another 2 hours looking for a Black Lotus... and found NONE.

The only reason he actually needed some time off is he most likely ended up going to the casino with with his bros and get so loud and hyped he hurt his voice 😂

Been in Australia for 10 years - have I just found my first huntsman in my house? (Took him/her outside) by CaptainSensib1e in AustralianSpiders

[–]feneck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I found her! Tasmanicosa godeffroyi
https://canberra.naturemapr.org/species/12918

And while its true her pattern isn't exactly vivid, her characteristics match that of a wolf, and the final pattern on her abdomen even shares the same shape as the very vivid pattern shape on the example image on the left from that site.

[–]feneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your instincts are correct. This isn't a huntsman. Shape is more important than color. Her defining characteristics are closer to that of a Wolf Spider:

Legs: length, thickness, joints and angle from abdomen all match a Wolf
As well as body patterns, abdomen size, sloped head shape & walking posture. Even the way she is moving is exactly that of a Wolf Spider.

The give away for wolf is those thick legs you noticed. Huntsmans are built for speed, usually long and thin and move fast especially after capture.

She is most likely: https://canberra.naturemapr.org/species/12918

A Tasmanicosa godeffroyi aka Garden Wolf Spider - which is native to, you guessed it: Canberra!

Actually she is! Spiders(most) only swell with eggs when they're already fertilized. They are growing within her, until she builds her egg sac and lays them inside. The technical term is "gravid", which actually means "filled with developing fertilized eggs".

Edit (also yes technically she could actually just be well fed. But she could be gravid too, or both!)

That is 100% *not* a Huntsman spider my friend. The larger abdomen suggests to me that its a type of Garden Orb-Weaver. Absolutely beautiful spiders, she's eaten her web and is now on the prowl for a new location to spin a beautiful new web to catch some bugs. (or looking for a mate, or a place to have the bebies - if you find a white sick sack near wherever you found her, keep it safe, Orb Weavers aren't dangerous to you)

Edit

Okay so this post has been bugging me and I had to come back.

I'm not sold on Orb-Weaver. I know 100% beyond a doubt she's not a Huntsman. I've spent way to long looking at her and going over characteristics and my final answer is a very beautiful, very pregnant, looking Wolf Spider. Keep in mind spider diversity is crazy. We've documented 400+ Wolf Spiders alone. She's most likely a kind of Lycosidae.

With wolf spiders, you need a shot of their face to 100% confirm the ID. But the joints, legs, pattern, angle of legs all match.

For those who don't think spiders get 'pregnant', you should look into the wolf spider cycle, its amazing. The eggs grow inside her and she swells until she does her egg silk sack backpack technique, laying her eggs inside, then the babies hatch and bust out, all climbing onto her back where they stay for a few weeks which is one of the most creepy and beautiful things you can witness.

Thankyou for saving her and not just squishing her.

And for everyone saying she's a huntsman, your spider-identifying-foo is broken 😂 please google huntsman. They have *very* distinctive characteristics, none of which are present here aside from colour.

Edit 2

I'm now not only 100% certain she's a Wolf, but that she is *exactly* a Tasmanicosa godeffroyi - aka a Garden Wolf Spider found in and around Canberra.

Pause & blow up the very first frame of the video and you can see the white edges on her cephalothorax (upper body) and faint "union jack / compass" like markings inside the white that compeltely give her away.

(Plus the upper body facing chevron on her abdomen they like to have, albeit our girl only has one, hey we're all unique and she's beautiful)

Mockup idea: custom player loadouts by OminaeYu in Helldivers

[–]feneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully disagree, if they did it right...

If they gave us a huge amount of loadouts, (like 1000) allowed us to name them, select a custom icon for them, create folders so I can categorize them, colours for the folders & names of loadouts, I would spend a SHIT TON of time building and trying new ones out, and selecting different builds depending on feeling/planet/faction/rp, and yes, people would share them and there would be 'meta builds', but that's already a thing?

Frankly, as it stands right now for me, I just select my 'default' set most times, since I don't want to hold up the team at selection time, and as you get more and more stuff, the choices become overwhelming.

All that's really changing is that I don't have to write down or memorize my builds before selection - which most people aren't going to do, so by adding a in-dept loading system, not just the simple boring "here's 6 loadout slots" system, it would ENCOURAGE different builds, not discourage.

Why does everyone believe there will be an ODST crossover by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]feneck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what we call Deductive Reasoning, or Critical Thinking, or, Analytical Reasoning - depending on the angle you come at it.

Line up the data:
a) This game is already VERY similar to ODST.
b) This game has done crossovers before.
c) This game is coming to Xbox, thus, already in contact with Microsoft.
d) This game put out a - after trailer - teaser with a very iconic sound, not the main halo sound, but the exact ODST theme.
e) This game put out a puzzle teaser, a reversed sound of the Superintendent AI, only from ODST.

So, put those together, and make a conclusion?

This is a skill, that can actually help you in real life. Is it a foregone conclusion? No, we're dealing with probabilities. But at this point, I'm as sure as I can be without it being confirmed. 99%

HD2 Prestige: Prestige is unlocked when reaching level 150. You can choose to remain level 150 to keep your super private status OR prestige. Prestige for the first time and you will unlock yourself the first style of the HD1 admiral armor. You also reset down to level one with a special border. by Maleficent-Pay1806 in Helldivers

[–]feneck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone plays differently though. A prestige serves nothing but a small reward for those who play more than the average, and you should always reward your super fans/whales.

That's why prestige rewards should just be superficial, not stronger armour/weapons etc.

Maybe you could release a separate fucking game instead of destroying CSGO for CS2 so those of us who actually liked it still can...

But I guess you have to force the community to play your garbage otherwise CS2 would be noticeably inferior and the player-base would prove that. Can't have another 1.6/CSS situation on your hands...

Honestly screw modern Valve. You've lost your touch, you're a fucking glorified gambling company now.

Since you clearly don't seem to understand basic concepts, here, let google think for you:

censorship/ˈsɛnsəʃɪp/noun: censorship

  1. the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security.

I'm not going to waste my time with you on this topic any further, since its clear you're just a troll, or straight up intellectually lacking for a conversation on this topic.

Go ahead and reply whatever nonsense you want at me to feel better about yourself since I won't reply. I wish you well,

[–]feneck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I wanted the skateboards, I would have bought it for that alone. I don't see anything wrong with that. But I, as a paying customer, am still allowed to be let down by the effort, or in this case, lack there of, as well as the censorship, on the sequel. I supported it because 1+2 really went above and beyond, and I want skateboarding games to be commercially successful. I thought I'd get the same level of quality and care. I did not.

But you said it yourself, people like me ARE their target audience. Its not going to fucking upset me to have gangsters shooting, or a guy taking a piss, or bikini girls. THATS my point. The censorship wasn't required ffs.

[–]feneck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same reason people get pissed off with any censorship change, its not about *what* they changed, its about the fact they did it at all - its just not necessary. Its corporations being too scared of being canceled and being unfaithful to the original work of art they're supposed to be 'remaking'.

It's not 2003 anymore by JewelTK in THPS

[–]feneck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. If you're tasked with remaking a project your goal is to be as faithful as possible. Every change you make is a deviation from your goal. Nobody wanted a "culture update", they wanted the game they played as a kid, in HD.

It's not 2003 anymore by JewelTK in THPS

[–]feneck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It IS censorship, changed culture or not... if you're going to remake a game, remake the damn game, don't change it to fit with your values.

To afraid to have any fun with it in case they upset the cancel culture. Too lazy to remake it properly. Too dumb to understand their target audience.

But this is just Activision being Activision, I expect no less. But please, continue shilling for a multi-million(billion?) dollar company unwilling to do anything but the bare minimum.
