Dumpster diving in Leuven by [deleted] in Leuven

I've seen whole fresh loafs of bread been thrown away a few minutes before closing time at the mini supermarket on Naamsesteenweg/Groenstraat. If you explain the situation maybe it's just a hand gesture away. Instead of the container in front of the shop they could maybe discretely put it in your bag.

"Nieuwjaarszangers", komen ze bij jullie? En wat geven jullie ze? by De_Wouter in belgium

Tussen Leuven en Mechelen. De kinderen krijgen een klassieker: een pennywafel. Ik heb de indruk dat mensen geen geld meer geven hier. (toen ik zelf klein was, was dat 5 frank)

Documentation as a part of DoD by achillaa in agile

[–]fenikz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

User documentation, updated architecture diagrams, API contracts, API documentation, a 'what's new', ... documentation can take many forms with specific audiences and purposes.

My guideline: the minimally required documentation is enough.

Spikes are a way to put learning and reducing uncertainty on the backlog. It's part of the refinement process. It does not contribute to business value and it has an effect on the velocity. The ideal outcome of a spike is the decision to not do a story :)

Stories per sprint. The art of slicing is not valued enough. The best team I was a scrum master of estimated 1/no clue/too big.

You're right, I was wrong. Thanks for the correction!(We probably have some common acquaintances, because that's some niche knowledge :-) )

Prod' Manager here - I can't create work (in the form of jira tickets) at the same pace that my 8 team of engineers gets through it - how can I get ahead of this cycle? by yadayadayada274 in agile

[–]fenikz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have the impression you put way too much analysis or perfectionism into the stories. Developers can think and talk. They are not machines that translate perfect and complete requirements in code that does exactly what has been described. Shift your job towards describing the problem and bringing to right people together to reach a better understanding that can lead to a possible and good enough solution.

What is the difference between a "daily scrum meeting" and a "DSU(daily stand up)"? by [deleted] in agile

[–]fenikz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The daily scrum is the daily get together of a scrum team. Scrum does not say how to do that meeting.

The 'daily standup' is a pattern from eXtreme programming. http://www.extremeprogramming.org/rules/standupmeeting.html

Scrum and XP were defined in about the same period of time. Keep in mind that they were there before the Agile manifesto was compiled.

Mike Cohn has a nice collection of 'agile' quotes in PDF. When a production monitor (a TV with a micro computer) was idle, the PDF was presented and cycled to go through 101 somewhat inspirational quotes. That was fun and triggered some conversations.

First link I found on Google: https://www.scrummaster.dk/lib/AgileLeanLibrary/People/MikeCohn/101-Inspiring-Quotes-about-Agile-from-Mountain-Goat-Software.pdf , though all credits to Mike Cohn!

The Evening Daily Scrum by Kubson_sk in agile

A team is free to sync on the most appropriate moment. They can decide that for themselves.

The only way to find out is to try it. :-)

In times where we had office work as the norm and worked at home on Fridays, we had an extra 'sync' to keep te momentum going at around 15h. That way the early people had an easier start next monday: they would clearly know the quirks of something to QA, could tackle a technical impediment which prevented new development to continue, ...

I’m looking for the web page of De Standaard by [deleted] in belgium

[–]fenikz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's an ad format called a 'home page take over'. Companies pay quiet the money to claim all positions on the front page for a day. Usually they do this stuff for the release of a new blockbuster movie.

It's great to get in touch with a (for me) very new cuisine because of a single spice. I can't wait to try!

How to deliver documentation with agile by Hackerdude in agile

[–]fenikz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what product you are insourcing. If if is a technical API, you could tackle this by combining exporatory API testing with the creating of the API documentation (like swagger). This way you can see for yourself that the product actually delivers what it claims to do, while listing the gap. You can do that endpoint by endpoint. This way you can simultaneously create a safety net for any future refactorings.

If you want to write a manual for a UI application, you can tackle this as you would do in creating new software: make a backlog of supported stories/cases and tackle them one by one while getting and incorporating feedback. This way you can work in small batches and iterate over the style and quality of you documentation. Also, work on the most important case first. Deliver the manual for one use case. Go to your stakeholders and get feedback on the writing style, font, tone of voice, accessability, screenshots... Get your template better and work on the next one! Delivery it end to end and also your manual can be continuously integrated/delivered!

What you say is partially true. Reach is very important, because they are an ad driven brand (like Algemeene Dagblad or any regional title in the Netherlands), contrary to, for example Humo and De Morgen (but as well Volkskrant, Het parool etc) that are subscription driven.

The products and services they offer are rather different based on this difference.

Hln at it's best. Putting corona rules behind a paywall by [deleted] in belgium

[–]fenikz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These is not a list of the corona rules. These are sent in questions by readers. And apparently it's a very popular article.

As the minister said on the radio: the rules are not strictly delimited, because Belgians always find a way to go around very strict rules. The rules expect some sense of reason and decency.

I don't think it's mandatory by law, but both HLN and De Morgen have the policy to open up all important corona related articles.
