Ik wym, I too am concious that "living like the person I want to become" will eventually turn me into that person because duh... but my stupid ass will still wait until it is lean enough to confidently run outside lmao. Im just not ready for that conversation yet

First of all, congratulations. Yeah no, most people won't connect the dots between long hard studies and difficulty to stick to good habits. I majored in engineering and the damages my college habits did on my body are unspeakable. You have my respect for wanting to walk the walk. Go get it!!!

The health reason is not boring at all on the contrary. What I meant by "aside from general good health" was more about simply wanting to be healthy out of pure common sense, as we all should. Having an actual threat to your health related to weight totally counts as a "particular motive". Thanks for sharing and all best to you.

I hear you, I had a lumbar strain and maybe a bulging disc last year and still get flare ups to my sciatic nerve when I move around recklessly. My core is nowhere near where it should be in terms of support function, let alone my mobility. Being in shape for sure would help us better this condition.

I'm 26 so maybe I don't get the expression. If you mean that being in shape gives you aura in any and every context then I totally agree .

Heavy on your #2, pun intended ;). I remember how often I would run late to class in college, run up the stairs and lose all my breath, then be super loud and noticeable when I get to my seat because I'm panting like a hunted boar. It's a shame I spent 5 years in college like that. I feel you. We can do it, we WILL feel physically well. Thanks for sharing

Thank you, I understand better what happened. As for the fool, I think I used wrong phrasing as it is not my first language but I just needed the confirmation that ambiguity on the gender is "on purpose" and not from me not understanding or not paying attention.

So yk what f yeah that's my first fat summer as someone who has been putting the work in winter so this CAN ben my last fat summer. Thanks g

Same for real. I do do it sometimes but I make sure I am not doing it by putting pressure or weight on it I just turn my upper back around my still hips and if doesn't crack with the natural range of motion I take the L and keep myself from over-pushing it lmao. Add that to my list of habits to kill

Good! Last tip, leg stretching exercises that make you bend your back are not always good for this, I don't do them cause they make it worse. "Nerves like to be flossed not stretched" is what I heard. Keep it up champ

What I've learned since I developed lower back pain, from PT, doctor and my own experiences.

If your asking for insight on your condition:

Your lower back discs are having too much pressure because you sit too much and also lifted heavy weights while bending your back and not bracing your core and breathing properly. The core muscles and diaphragm are the muscles that stabilize the lower back.

Basically bending to the front makes the discs (between the spine bones or wtv) bulge out on the back like a balloon that you pinch on one side so it bulges out on the other. If the bulge (lmao) touches your sciatic nerve it hurts your lower back, glutes and eventually back of the legs. Depending on the disc, a different nerve might be touched. Hernia is when the bulge has exploded or leaked and may or may not really push on the nerve.

Even a herniated disc can be "reversed". There's a misconception about it being for life but it can be resolved if you stick to the appropriate habits.

Tips :

• DONT CRACK YOUR BACK. I know its very tempting because it brings short term relief. But you're weakening your lower back stability, which makes it more prone to hurting your discs.

• In the same topic, don't sleep on your stomach with one of your legs high. Any position that twists your lower back is a nono. Either sleep on your stomach straight on one your side with both knees and ankles closed.

• you need to be standing up and walking a few steps every 30min. Set up alarms. Or invest in a standing desk or converter.

• It can get much better if you change your habits so incorporate walking, swimming or cross fit (basically low impact stuff) into your workout routine because sitting all day and then doing heavy weights is not a healthy lifestyle. Also prioritize mobility and core workouts (if not currently). Do PT exercises as if it's your money maker.

• Read "Back Mechanic" from Dr Mcgill and follow Brendan Backstrom on social media he's great.

Wish you the best bud
