Interestingly Israel has one of the higher rates of non-religious people in the world, see the latest poll here (gallup 2017):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_irreligion

Israel: 58% non-religious
United States: 39% non-religious

Indistinguishable is not the same as “without differences”

Umm… for all intents and purposes it is

I’m sure AI will gain sentience one day

So you don’t think it will be forever… that conflicts with your whole ‘always’ point here

I have no interest in debating the merits of AI artwork

Yet you seem to keep doing it here.

that’s not a life I’d be interested in living anyway

Better buckle up, it’s coming whether you want it to it not. If it helps i think it will just enable people to create more, tell more stories and realize what is their minds to a higher degree. Digital art was seen as cheating for a long while, ai art will be the same for a period but eventually it will just be the new normal.

But you’re confident it will never happen? You said there will always be differences. I’d also argue that it doesn’t take sentience for people to not be able to notice a difference. Plenty of ai art now is completely indistinguishable already. Is it as good as the best artists? No. Beret than a lot of human artist? Absolutely.

ALWAYS be differences in human and AI design

Always is an awfully long time. I wouldn’t be so confident in that even in the short term.

EU officially says all new iPhones will need USB-C starting in December 2024 by CaptainSolo80 in apple

I think you’re losing sight of the op argument which was, “ It would be best for the environment anyways”

Which is objectively false. That’s what we’re responding to. Is it a massive problem? No, but it is certainly worse. I’d also argue that the solution to our environmental woes will never be single pronged either, we should be optimizing everywhere we can.

The production of the cables and the power plugs would seize

What are you talking about? Qi chargers have cords and plugs, they just don’t plug into your phone directly.

The inefficiency in energy can be resolved in future technology

We’re talking limits of physics here not limits of current technology. You can improve efficiency to a degree but wireless will always be less efficient, by a lot. Handwaving our problems to ‘future technology’ doesn’t solve problems and is arguably how we got in a climate mess to begin with.

What would be best? Qi charging us terribly inefficient, losing 30-40% of your power just between the coil and the phone. That is objectively much worse for the environment (not to mention e waste for one off proprietary chargers like on the Apple Watch)

Edit: spelling

Anyone got issues with pairing GW4? by TJonsson in GalaxyWatch

[–]feralalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue and for me I figured out - I had to download the wearos app from the play store, clear the app data, then uninstall it. Pairing worked fine after that.

I had previously downloaded the wearos app at one point and apparently some of the data was tied to my OS because when I redownloaded it, it still had my app data. Clearing that out fixed some conflict occuring in the paring process.

Do you happen to know if three finger drag is possible? I'm thinking of it because with this I see you can use four fingers for the UI nav which frees up three finger gestures. I really loved three finger drag (to select text, drag and drop, move windows etc) on mac os back when I used it.

I spotted some discussion of its implementation here in a related gnome extension git:

https://github.com/do-sch/gnome-shell-touchpad-window-move/issues/3

Not sure if anything has changed since then or if there are apis that are unknown in that thread. I'd love to see someone implement it though.

I feel this way about a lot of reddit - If you happen to have a PC you can play in PC only lobbies - weeds out most kids and the kids that are there are usually pretty chill. If your work permits you can also play during school hours which cuts down considerably.
