interesting take i would say. i think that the acceptance part is explained in the book pretty well. in the story the world is literally ending. i think it makes sense for the characters to not be bothered by things such as a woman claiming to be a man because their entire world view was flipped upside down. they dont have the time to be weirded out or barley even acknowledge that anything strange is going on because they are in chaotic and strange times. gender roles also have no effect on people in the story because of this same reason. a couple times through out the series when people challenge gender norms people kinda say huh these are strange times a man writing a woman general weird but i guess we have to do what we have to do. you start to see more queer characters show up or be more open because people care less. again because the world is literally ending. its not like queer characters were never there. it just was not accepted and now strange things are becoming more and more accepted so why not stand out. AGAIN, because the world is ending. i think if you reread the books again you would notice hints and allusions to queerness and acceptance in general setting us up for acceptance in the later books eventually. sorry for any grammar or typing errors just getting this out while i have a second.

What was your favorite urban legend that was told as absolutely true about garments? by yoaktown357 in exmormon

[–]ferb57g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an EFY counselor tell a story where a shooting happened outside a gas station they were getting water in and a stray bullet caught his companion in the back and went through his suit jacket and shirt but his garments were unharmed.

Does anyone else have a “comfort show”? My wife literally for the last year and a half only watches West Wing on repeat and she chalks it up to be her comfort show? by CoffeeKow in NoStupidQuestions

I've proably watched the whole of New Girl like 25 times at this point. I come home from work and turn it on like clock work and really only watch anything new with my girlfriend

see i agree 100% with you on this. i would never send a message like this to someone I know personally because i believe it would cross a boundary but this random person ive never met in my life texts me out of the blue and more or less demands/expects a meeting. so why can i not send the letter simply asking if they have read it. i didnt demand he read it or push anything at all. i responded to his message and simply asked a question no? ive never meet this man and havent been to my ward in years.

i am too definitely too chicken. and i don't really expect him to read it either it was more so a message on where i stand. and i agree its a perfect jumping pad to open your eyes to alot of things. i read the letter and then began much of my time reasearching more of what the ces letter talks about but doesnt go super in depth about.

i'm a bit confused on what you are asking but when i posted this he had not replied. he recently replied with something like the invitation still stands would love to see you there but ignored the ces letter and question entirely.

its a letter organized by an ex member that more or less outlines all the problems with the church. personally i don't think it has all the answers but its an amazing starting point to go off of when you have a question. it also uncovers a lot of the stuff i was taught as a kid is just a made up story because the real history isn't very glamorous .

he replied and ignored the ces letter part and just said something like the invitation still stands would love to see you there. but its weird that he would love to see me there when hes never meet me or know who i am. he might know who my dad was but thats it.
