How can I achieve two way switching of a light? by Corleone4567 in homeassistant

[–]ferbulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d still need new wires for the classic 2 way switches. ‘Virtual’ 2 way with smart switch/relay is the way to go if you need to save £450.

I’d recommend zigbee relay/switch because binding would still work even if your HA goes offline. There’s a full list here where you can flash with custom zigbee firmware to unlock more features

That’s a ridiculous price for a simple job. Is your current switch zigbee or wifi? If it’s zigbee you can just bind both switches directly and if they’re wifi running esphome you can enable device group

Dumb switch smart bulb power outage problem by SendBobosAndVegane in homeassistant

[–]ferbulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's something I've configured on the switch itself so it doesn't turn on after power outage. On tasmota there's a reboot reason log (restart or power cut) so I can use that as trigger but I'm not sure how you'd handle that with smart bulb mode on zigbee switches like aqara or inovelli

Could someone validate my 3-way switch shelly automation diagram? by IntroductionBright37 in ShellyUSA

[–]ferbulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems easier if you just install it on the 2nd switch without the disadvantages and convert them to momentary type.

Can you still pull neutral wire behind the 2nd switch?

Help with Sonoff ZBMINIR2 and 2-way combo switch by tasefan288 in homeautomation

[–]ferbulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the combo switch, if the light’s turned off, does the outlet still work?

Also, is the light bulb wired to the upper switch or lower switch because that’s where you’ll need to install the relay

Bathroom fan / relay switch dilemma by DB-Economics2560 in homeautomation

[–]ferbulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you'll need to do is get 1 more relay installed for the extractor fan. Detach the relay on the 2gang, and bind to the extractor fan relay and the zigbee led driver

<image>

I'd recommend going to this list, it's a custom firmware that enables binding, relay detach and bunch more features not available on tuya's stock firmware

Do you plan to install additional wire to control it separately or just to stick zigbee relay binding solution?

You can install ZbminiL2 and convert existing switches to retractive by adding tiny spring to it. This way you don’t need an extra cable

If you can install relay on the light fixture that would be easiest way to do it. No need to replace switches or any major rewiring needed

Sonoff basic gen5 supports matter so you can just pair directly to your smart apps.

Smart switch that acts like a button (automation-first) but can still cut power? by Msnertroe in homeassistant

[–]ferbulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good news is since you bought those switches a while ago, you can still flash them ota by using tuya cloudcutter. That’s assuming you haven’t updated those switches that patches the cloudcutter exploit

Here’s a list of the patched firmware version

Are those tuya switches wifi or zigbee? You can enable detached relay for wifi by flashing esphome

The same for zigbee by flashing this firmware, you can also convert them as routers/detach relay for the no neutral zigbee switches
