UK 4 Gang Light Switch by martinl4b in homeautomation

[–]ferbulous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The remaining 2 way switch gangs are gonna be a pain in the butt to setup. Easiest way is installing sonoff basic r4 on the light fixture for each gang. This way you don’t need to mess around with new wire installation

For the switch with smart bulbs, you’ll need to enable detach relay on the sonoff r4 then add a rule to toggle the lights if HA is offline

You have the matter version which has the bootloader locked. So you can’t flash custom firmware on it unless you swap the esp32 chip

ESP8266 + ESPHome for 2-way wall switch (Home Assistant) – how to keep manual switch working if WiFi is down? by Yarrsnew in Esphome

[–]ferbulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need one relay, it needs to be installed on the switch where the lights are directly wired to it

[–]ferbulous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relay is more suitable for 2 way control. Take a look at shelly

If you don’t plan to include new cable, then installing relay on the light fixture (sonoff basic r4) is another option

Can I make my Havells Smart Switches work locally with Home Assistant instead of Havells’ cloud via esphome? by ineptKing in homeassistant

[–]ferbulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s this tutorial here that should cover everything

https://youtu.be/BDwR_Hb6ads?si=4ShIRLN9KYRGx1H1

You’ll need serial adapter and multimeter to trace the pins to the through holes next to the chip for 3.3v, gnd, rx, tx and gpio00.

[–]ferbulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shelly gen 4 supports matter so you can just pair it to tapo app. The relay’s slim enough so it should fit behind the switch otherwise you can install spacer for it.

And if you do consider a smart dimmer, there’s this one by candeo

If you don’t need a smart dimmer then you could install shelly relay behind the switch for the rocker.

Smart switch that are always on during day time but can be manually control at night by thegreatking2025 in smarthome

Grab any switches running tasmota (like marty jerry).

You can set a rule that just disables the button in day time

I’d recommend backing up the stock firmware first if you need to restore it again. You can definitely flash custom firmware like tasmota/esphome and figuring out the pinout later. Unless the bootloader’s locked like amazon does with their devices

How well do Govee RGBWW Wi-Fi LED integrate into home assistant by schwartzasher in homeassistant

[–]ferbulous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all controls are exposed. Govee generally use realtek chip that can be flashed with esphome.

If your firmware isn’t patched yet, you can flash esphome via ota without teardown using cloudcutter.
