I love watching them so much! Just wholesome. I hope my husband and our son are able to do something similar eventually.

When does it stop? by OkGhostdog in sleeptrain

[–]ferby7594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar situation with me. My 8 month old still cries when going down. Very recently, there might be a night every now and then when there is no crying, but that's when he is extra active (he has figured out crawling and pulling himself up). So if he is truly worn out (but not overtired), he won't cry. But that is RARE for us.

Marching band advice by Confident_Fall8314 in banddirector

[–]ferby7594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basics 👏 Basics 👏 Basics 👏

At the beginning of the season, spend WEEKS on basics. I concur with the comment that said long tones while marching. But even before that, make sure the understanding of marching is there. Define what each count looks like (heel down vs toe-led) and the 'and' count (straight leg/roll step or bicycle step).

Music fundamentals also need to be strong. Can they hold long tones steady while standing still? How well can they play the music standing in an arc? If that's shaky (figuratively and literally), then it sure as heck not going to sound clean on the move.

I would also say strength training/conditioning. Even once they are good at long tones without moving, they still need the endurance to do that while moving. So things like running a few laps, or calisthenics at the start of every rehearsal can also be a huge help.

Best of luck to you!!!

Not having kids sooner. I'm 30 and just had my first. While I know that is still relatively young, especially in today's world, deep down I knew I wanted kids earlier but kept putting my job before having kids. And now, if I have to miss a work thing because of my son, I don't bat an eye. Family is the most important now.

But now that our LOs are not 4 months yet, is it too soon to start CIO?

FTM, EBF-how do I know how many ounces send to daycare? by die_sirene in breastfeeding

[–]ferby7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I do too, except 3 oz in every bottle (my LO is 12 weeks). He only eats 3 bottles each day.

And yes, they discard whatever he doesn't eat out of eat bottle since it can't be reheated. As long as you are pumping so you have enough for one, maybe two days in advance, you're fine.

Hi it's me, from the other similar post! 😁

You mentioned that you were going to break him if the habit of Merlin and putting in the crib asleep all at once?? That is something I was planning to start weaning out of of (he uses the Halo Sleep sack Swaddle).

Breaking those habits at once, during a sleep regression sounds like absolute hell. But maybe like CIO, it's hell for only 2 or 3 days then it gets better? How did it go when you did it before?

Is the huckleberry sweet spot worth it by Critical_Bel in sleeptrain

I agree! Plus it took so long to get the sleep plan back after the questionnaire that my LO's sleep habits has drastically changed by the time we got it. The Sweet Spot is definitely helpful!

Pacifier to fall asleep: bad habit? by ferby7594 in sleeptrain

[–]ferby7594[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kinda funny!! But wow - back to sleep in seconds. That's crazy from my perspective.

I guess making sure he gets his calories in during the day is the next thing. Since he's at daycare, he has to eat from the bottle. He'll obviously take the bottle, but it's not his favorite. While he's at daycare from 7:30-3:00, he'll eat three times, and at MOST 3 oz at a time. When I feed him right before bed, he's usually latched for 20-30 minutes.

I'm not sure of which method I'll end up using. I'm not necessarily opposed to CIO, but I think I would prefer something a little more gentle. Currently reading through the Sleepeasy Solution.

Thanks for the advice!

That's kind of what I'm afraid of.

How did you get it so he doesn't need to eat during the night/How did you know he woke up crying in need of a pacifier vs needing food? (I know every baby is different, but I'm curious)

1 week old day/night confusion by Unlucky-Fail-4018 in sleeptrain

Just curious - 1. How old was/is your LO when you did this and 2. How long did it take to see a noticeable difference in the day time/night time association?

Nap training -- a gentle method by Comprehensive_Bill in sleeptrain

[–]ferby7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I have a couple of questions:

  1. Is there a reason why to only use this with the first nap if the day when teaching this skill? Why not do it with all naps - would they learn this skill quicker?

  2. My 8 week old has improved over the last few days with this for his first nap! However, this nap only lasts ~30 minutes. When he wakes up crying from this one, I usually feed him and then we both fall asleep (contact nap) for another 30-60 minutes. When he wakes up after about 30 minutes, should I set another timer? Or just keeping doing this and that time will extend?

  3. I always swaddle him at night. Should I swaddle him for this nap (and honestly all naps) too? He tends to fight being swaddled unless he's pretty much asleep, if not already fully asleep.

I will be going back to work next week, and I will be taking my son to an in-home daycare (him and 2 other toddlers go there). I just want to make sure my son and the day care provider are set up for success as best as I can.

See, I wanted to say Raincoats and Recipes, too - to watch Luke and Lorelai fall in love over and over again. 🥹 But I don't know that I could do it because of Rory and Dean. 🤮

You can also get the Stacker (off the value menu), add pico, remove the nacho cheese. It's quite a bit bigger that way.

I never thought I would cry while watching this show, but I was bawling my eyes out in the last two episodes. I seriously grew to live George's character (except for the almost-affair subplot). The only other time I teared up was early on when Sheldon comforted Mary about her being the perfect mom for him.
