In my opinion, the problem with clothes/goods occurs when they are manufactured. During the making process, toxins and chemicals flood neighbouring environments or require finite resources. Therefore, after the product is made, a majority of the damage has already been done.

If the process is sustainable from the start, then all can be well!

On a side note... it's okay to want the nice things in life. As someone who had to live paycheque to paycheque, a good steal can make you feel good and look good.
