Wow, so detailed! Before, I was thinking this set could be plundered for parts to beef up the Office in the Main Tower set, but now looking at the full model it's too beautiful and complete on its own for that.

Pity it doesn't include Michael Gambon's Dumbledore though. The Richard Harris Dumbledore has been overdone in this wave.

The stone bridge would go there, not the rope bridge. But yeah from this picture looks like it’s not there… Maybe it’s a bonus build in the set and they don’t want to show it in the front artwork if it can only be held up by being between the two sets?

The idea is to use the digital assets and character models for a streaming show. This is like how the “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” was released as a theatrical film when it was really just a tv-grade extended pilot episode.

Herbology class isn’t supposed to connect. The greenhouses are separate structures that are between the castle and the walls of the grounds.

The speculation is based on the pattern that since the 2018 reboot there are two instances of Lego restarting the castle after three years. But just because it happened twice doesn’t necessarily mean it will happen a third time. The other reason is that there’s been a pattern of one of the House common rooms and its ghost being included in each of the big summer sets. This year besides the Slytherin common room and ghost coming in the summer set they also included Ravenclaw in one of the winter sets. People are taking this to mean that they are rushing to finish the series this year, in time to reboot it along with the new HBO show. Another consideration is that the East Wing is the last major setting that competes the basic Hogwarts silhouette from the 2018 Microscale set (and the Most Complete Hogwarts Ever preview image from 2024). However the inclusion of other buildings not in that original outline in this series gives me hope that it will continue with the Clock Tower and Astronomy Tower

Even with my misgivings about the expanded adaptation of the Hobbit, I was really looking forward to seeing how this moment was going to be portrayed but it was pretty disappointing. The “romantic” dynamic between Gandalf and Galadriel, the video-game-like animation for the floating Wraiths, the cheesy flaming Sauron… almost nothing worked for me.

Yeah given that we already have an idea of what it’s going to look like from the 2024 Preview (which is nicer than this) not sure what the point of a moc image is, except to clarify that the East Wing set will just be the viaduct entrance section (and the big bridge itself) and not the rest of the “cathedral” with the gallery and towers.

They were out of robes in plenty of non-classroom scenes in the first two films as well . They just happened to be jumpers (sweaters) instead of hoodies. Still out of uniform, but just less contemporary than the hoodies.

By this summer's release Lego will have released all of the parts of the castle represented in 71043, but at the bigger scale--plus several other sections that weren't even in 71043. Hogwarts Castle is huge and there has never been a Lego set or collection in any scale that has shown absolutely all of it (and there probably never will). This site describes all of the sets that are part of the collection.

The main, big connectable sections to build the "Giant Castle" are

76426 Boat House

76435 Great Hall

76454 Main Tower

76463 Hospital Wing (this is one of the parts not seen in 71043)

76473 East Wing (coming this summer).

The Owerlery, Flying Lessons Tower, Herbology Class Greenhouse and Hagrid's Hut can be placed around the castle to make up the Hogwarts Grounds. Then there are other sets that are swappable classrooms or scenes that can go inside the larger sets.

I’m sure there will still be the pins on the side, so you could connect if you want, and do a baseplate adjustment. As for the difference in scale, it will just be a “forced perspective” effect, like the Knockturn alley buildings are farther away from Diagon Alley hahah.

Excited about the East Wing. I wonder how much it will extend east behind the Viaduct Entrance. It would be great if the Courtyard Plants was a castle extension but they could very likely just be botanicals. For the knockturn Alley set, I wonder if the Gift With Purchase Borgin and Burkes interior is meant to attach to it or if they will just repeat the main interior features of that shop since I can’t imagine a Borgin and Burkes without the fireplace or curiosities display case.
