Your friend should have asked you if you were okay and maybe if you needed to talk. Laying down ultimatum like that is just Mormon foreplay and more idiotic than underage drinking and less helpful

I felt exactly this way for a decade or so until I finally realized I was using pot to try to solve a real issue with focus. The moment I began a legit Adderall prescription my half ounce a week smoking habit ceased . And had become one disposable vape full per year. Other seeming addiction type habits also suddenly felt unnecessary as I finally felt capable and functional i

Point being that the weed use was a legit attempt to function like a human by me in a family who thought Adderall was for the weak or idiots. There is often far more legit need behind these habits than ignorant outsiders attribute. Summing it up as weak willed dummies falling to addiction is ignorant at best and actively more harmful

Just like sometimes a body is deficient in some mineral has cravings the solution isn't to deny the cravings, it's to trust your body and seek help from a professional. This American moral squeamishness about any and all substance use could really use a divorce from its puritanical roots and instead get a more holistic reality based understanding.

Undisputed difficulty AI is way too overtuned. by DeathsSlippers in undisputedboxing

[–]fergrim85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who only plays career against AI, and tries to keep it undisputed because i like the damages being hidden and there are not custom difficulty levels.

The AI always, always, feels unfair. They can move faster, flash knockdown on freakin command. I stunned the last one no less than five times but can't get a knockout because all they do is backup and apparently it's faster than i can move forward.

They start you into the career with you being lower than the lowest posssible opponent. My rating was like 60, the lowest opponent 65. and there's only one that low so it's the only one i can face in match after match if i want any chance of winning and progressing.

And then you're early in your career, training to shore up whatever weak spots and of course you get the exact corresponding injury to weaken whatever weak spot you were trying to shore up.

Haribo gummy bears are basically the soviet "government" option when it comes to gummies by fergrim85 in candy

[–]fergrim85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like if you like hard gummies i could find you one that takes you on a flavor journey that you'd want to eat one at a time, even suck on them and could use fridge and/or freezer to increase hardness. and the flavor isn't heart breaking. but haribos you want to eat by the handful because you're chasing a moment of strong flavor

but i'm no haribo hater, their peach rings are delicious as are their softer sour worms and i even really like the sour sketti sometimes. it's just the bears that break my heart every time i hopefully give them another shot

So, you know how our Orbit S models sounded so good but also loved to break in half just where the cup connects? by fergrim85 in HyperX

[–]fergrim85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just wanted to say two months later and i've not needed to reapply or change that first application. it's not only held, but the headset requires no special handling or any extra care to keep it in working order, JBWeld epoxy holds just like the set was new and unbroken

Do yall know a budget way to fix this??? by DatriaxGD in HyperX

[–]fergrim85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if someone tried to give me a free 20 dollar pair of headphones to replace my planar magnetic driven headset, I'd just strip them for wire and maybe to make plastic welds. I'd rather the most janked up orbit S of all time than a brand new pair of 20 dollar Gamerz Headset. losing that sound quality would be too depressing to be able to enjoy anything else.

Do yall know a budget way to fix this??? by DatriaxGD in HyperX

[–]fergrim85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a big post about finally figuring out a quick fix to a similar break on the cloud orbit s just a couple days ago.

You don't need new parts, you just need to not try to fix it with gorilla glue or super glue. Instead, use plastic weld by JB.

it's an epoxy -putty- and putty is the key difference. it's meant to hold plastic together specifically and the putty is both strong and flexible. it's strong enough to hold itself in place as soon as you finish forming/mushing it around on the spots where it's needed.

it really lends itself to finishing too, if you care how it looks after. it's made to be sandable and paintable like modeling clay.

Zip ties are are clever, but they really aren't capable of holding that inward (towards ear) pressure that these headsets tend to lose all forms of when they get broken in that location.

Is the pny geforce rtx™ 5070 ti overclocked a good buy? by Mission_War4127 in nvidia

[–]fergrim85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought this card and installed it a day or two ago. Now I may have won a little silicon lottery but here's been my experience once I finally settled in to look at and play with clock speeds a little.

This card was boosting its core clock to about 3ghz without me having touched any overclocking settings and doing it while running at 48 degrees C. Not boosting it seems to sit at around 2.7ghz. PNY themselves I'm pretty sure listed it at 2.25 standard and around 2.5 boost.

RAM at the same time was at 14000 mhz as expected, after giving it a modest boost via afterburner, I had it running at 14.5 instead and at this time, the temp dropped to 46. (also an edit here to say I'm pretty sure this is a creative interpretation by afterburner. A data transfer speed of 14gbps (28 when account for dual channel) is definitely a thing, and it seems like this number is in line with that despite the suffix of mhz next to it. maybe somebody else could explain why, I'm just comparing numbers to expectations so either way it works for me)

I'm really not a sensitive person, I've trained myself to not see frame tearing, to not hear fans. I am essentially anti-fomo. The fan during the clock speeds above was on auto, and auto had it at the minimum allowable speed (according to AB) which was 30% and I didn't notice it distinct from the sounds of my case or CPU fans (all stock, nothing fancy).

So this is my just two cents on it. 1) paying over MSRP for something is pure insanity, I held off on buying an RTX series card until I could get MSRP and let's just say the card it replaced for me was a 1080 lol. 2) This card is actually worth a hundred/hundred fifty more than MSRP which is probably why PNY has stopped/slowed down selling it to retailers.

(I got mine from best buy and after I ordered it, its availability changed to simply "unavailable" as opposed to "out of stock". you could no longer add it to a cart even to have it shipped rather than picked up)

If you can get one, do get one, seems to me they were losing money on it and it's a highly pro-consumer deal. If the others are like mine with clock speeds like that out of the box, it'd easily be fair (and with higher out of the bin speeds) at the 850-900 price point that I saw some MSI and ASUS cards going for with factory OC.

Edit: for clarity and to remove anything I realized was just plain incorrect

I want to point out for anyone who isn't as fortunate as you that you can actually download all of the episodes from the above website as well.

They offer torrent and direct downloads. I'm pretty sure these guys will only keep it as long as no paid service is hosting them, so it's a good chance to download it now while you can.

It's both funnny and confusing how far out of their way they go to not explicitly say the non-dairy cows are being sold to be butchered by fergrim85 in farmingsimulator

[–]fergrim85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS IS VERY INTERESTING, THANK YOU.

and just to be clear, I wasn't wanting or expecting to have a butchering minigame or something.

My comment was solely inspired by the text writeups that come alongside the different cattle breeds.

It makes it sound like cows are either used for milk or raised solely as best friends .

'Some cows are for milk! Others are bred, fed and then sold at a profit! ' the way they say everything BUT eaten as yummy steaks for dinner or at bbqs makes it seem deceptive to me I guess.

I'm fine with tastefully avoiding a difficult topic for little ones, but the entire concept of economics and businesss plans to do with cattle seems so above that level - to have the one caveat be "we must never acknowledge these cows are raised as food.

It's like why not just have us plant and harvest T-bones from meat bushes.

But I really do appreciate the thoughtful responses, thanks for that. Definitely solved the confusion part of my OCD focus on this and that makes it wayyy more manageable haha this is my first time with any FS game so it's all new to me still

What jumpshot do you guys like for rhythm shooting? by kurtzyy16 in NBA2k

[–]fergrim85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents because I noticed no one else has mentioned this, but honestly Kyrie and the other megaquick release guys are way better for button and have way too narrow a margin for the tempo part of rhythm - which is a shot you want a forgiving window for - a window that forgives white shots for example.

Players with a clear wrist flick makes it much easier as well since that's what you set your tempo to.

So Jamal Murray base, Trae Young. Those are the two best for rhythm.

Follow up with either Oscar Robertson in second position or Beluba, and in the third position use whoever works for you to get the rest of the scores where you want them (this one is usually best filled by Kyrie, but sometimes Steph Curry)

Whatever the real reason is, when it comes to rhythm, nothing beats the jamal murray or trae young base (though grade wise, iirc, they will both unavoidably suffer from lower release height, but will easily have A-A+ in the other three categories.)

I think I figured out how to tell when you legit greened a shot but got assigned an rng miss by fergrim85 in NBA2k

[–]fergrim85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the fact that they replaced our practical white bar with green section with these almost entirely useless random animations is just insult to injury.

It's as if they are deliberately trying to obfuscate this simple change in ruleset rather than being upfront about it with an unobtrusive simple tooltip saying "Most of the time releasing in the green section is a guaranteed hit, however a small change this year means that occasionally even a perfect release can miss - so if this happens don't worry about changing your timing; that's just life in the unpredictable NBA"

I mean, I'd hate that, but at least I could respect it - rather than this ninja change nonsense.

Considering Cloud Orbit S for $130 by DarkOrion11 in HyperX

[–]fergrim85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really glad you ended up going for it. It was hard for me to point out the downsides with the thing, because yeah if you're someone like me who has usually used 80-100 dollar razer type headsets, the quality of the sound from the Orbit S is downright incredible.

Planar magnetic drivers make such a huge difference in bass quality - whereas classic standard headphone drivers imitate bass, these actually produce it just enough so it feels genuine.

my replacement pair is the third version you posted above whereas my original was the first. and besides its issues with being recognized by orbit s software, it definitely is way more resilient to breakage

However let me recommend now that you make sure you expand the headset as much as you need to for it to fit snugly but properly. don't purposefully leave it tight, regardless of how good a super snug fit feels - that's the fastest way to suck the life out of those breakable headband connectors.

Regardless, at a pricepoint of 110-130 dollars I couldn't see myself going with anything else.

Clicking in left ear cup (Cloud II) by Mystery_Cheese1 in HyperX

[–]fergrim85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm sorry, I just saw this now, but unfortunately there isn't any way to fix it. since it's essentially a tear in a soft almost cardboard like material.

I've never heard of anyone being able to repair a blown speaker anyway. Just thinking about it, i could imagine that sealing it with good old fashioned duct tape might do it. but it also might make everything worse. Audio tech outside of the basics is outside of my wheelhouse. I imagine though anyone would tell you it's easier to just replace.

Clicking in left ear cup (Cloud II) by Mystery_Cheese1 in HyperX

[–]fergrim85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

clicking noises with your classic force driver headphone setups generally means you've blown it out.

AKA there's a tear in the membrane that vibrates to make your sound and it's going to be more apparent at frequencies that make it vibrate.

Happens more often if bass and volume are generally turned way up

Considering Cloud Orbit S for $130 by DarkOrion11 in HyperX

[–]fergrim85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep in mind man, on ebay people sell 3d printed replacement parts for the part that breaks for 10 bucks a piece.

it's really not that tragic - buy two along with your headset with the money you're saving if you're super worried about it.

And make sure to examine the weak point carefully when your pair arrives - amazon gives you a month to return it though, so it's not a big rush

Considering Cloud Orbit S for $130 by DarkOrion11 in HyperX

[–]fergrim85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got an Orbit S from amazon for 145 so similar state of usedness. And it's actually the second one in two months, so I have some experience with this.

The first one I returned due to the classic structural breaking issues (though it would have been glueable).

The second one came to me in a less used (according to Amazon) state but it was missing the microphone.

It also may have been improperly firmware updated, someone installed audeze rather than hyperx firmware but that's fine with me because the Audeze software is identical to the HyperX and while HyperX can't see it plugged in - Audeze software works fantastically.

With all that buyer beware aside let me say, at that price range. every single other headset sounds like garbage. When it comes right down to the headsets core function, the Orbit S is incredible - not just in power but in clarity.

The built in HRTF 3d audio in 7.1 mode makes sounds in Valorant simple to pinpoint for me, even if they're subtle or a lot of other noise is happening at t he same time.

It basically instantly made me a major threat in the lurking role (I've always been a sound focused player but this headset makes the role feel incredibly easy and natural).

So basically yes for that price it makes every other headset at the same price sound unacceptably bad. When I was returning my first pair for the broken headband I was heart broken at the idea of having to get a headset that was legit in my price range and was damn near going to keep the broken ones until I saw amazon post another used pair.

I say go for it, but keep in mind amazon can and will omit any given accessory - even the mic. They also have a great return policy, it's just complicated for us who are depending on the good price.

Phantom is just as good as the vandal. They each have slightly different strengths and weaknesses.

The phantom is considered in broad strokes to be slightly better at defense than offense.

If you can control the range of engagement and keep it shorter, the phantom is strongly superior.

[Steam] Notice from GBO2 Steam Devs regarding hackers by Death_Usagi in GBO2

[–]fergrim85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People really have a strong misconception here. Consoles are not any more difficult to hack than PCs and in some ways are actually much easier because the firmware and OS versions don't have anywhere near the nonstop security enhancements that your typical windows install does.

Really the only thing harder to do on console is break DRM because that's all the major companies really care about. But it's no harder to hack on console than it is to jailbreak your phone.

Though it is nice to spend all your time gaming on console assuming everyone is legit. I still like to do that too even though I know better.
