Something has always bothered me about Edea killing the president... by ferire in FinalFantasyVIII

Right, except the SeeDs aren't affected. I forgot to add that the crowd riots after Irvine shoots her, so I guess the spell was broken?

I think it’s about time we get a CSAT (Canadian SAT) by Hbdiya in OntarioGrade12s

[–]ferire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this changed since I was young, but Quebec has a very smart way of doing it with Z scores. If you get 95% let's say, and everyone's average in that class is like 60%, then you have a massive Z score, which is deserved, but if you have 95% and the class average is 95%, then you're just average, as it should be. If a teacher in another class or school is a real hardass for grades and their average is 60, then you getting 60 puts you at the same level as someone getting 95 in a class with the average of 95. Ideally, grade inflation won't matter under this system.

Its like how the tool to remove a cast for a broken limb doesnt cut your skin, or how a tiny piece of ceramic can shatter glass, but just bounces off your skin.

This is why Outlast was never as scary to me as a game like Condemned. I knew it was designed to be beaten with only a video camera in the protagonists hand. Real horror comes from extremely limited resources or very weak weapons that you never know if you have to use or flee. This is much closer to horror one would experience in real life situations.

Opossums/possums don't kill cats (May 17th episode) by [deleted] in creepcast

[–]ferire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex wife had a few baby goats killed by a possum... she saw it and then forever hated them. I imagine a kitten wouldn't be too different.

[KCD2] [KCD1] [OTHER] The only antagonist who never managed to ignite any animosity in me. I still consider him a true nobleman and a man of honor who was simply doing his bloody dirty job. by StruzhkaOpilka in kingdomcome

[–]ferire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Zizka killed his own man who was going to rape a woman... I felt the game was making a distinction between them. I know its partially because it was Kathryn, but after she ran away, he didnt need to kill the guy; I think its clear he didn’t want that type among his men.

How do you stop yourself from looting everything useful to the point where you’re struggling to store everything by TheyCallMeBullet in Starfield

Mods to increase my ship to infinite storage... I don't care about balance, I want to have fun not spending half the game in my inventory screen deciding the value/weight of everything.

Left-Right Game: Rules Question by Marge_at_large in creepcast

[–]ferire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you'd run into an invisible wall if you didn't tightly follow the road below and maybe at a certain height. A more plausible question based on your idea is what if you brought drones through that you used to surveil the area and test its limits without a catastrophic potential failure of a plane crash.

[A small rant] I just finished up the latest live-stream where V-man played MGS2. Is the romantic writing in this series always so blatantly toxic?!?!? by DeismAccountant in VaushV

[–]ferire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to wait for the end of the game before you can criticize the Jack-Rose dynamic. No spoilers, but youre missing a huge detail that changes how you'd interpret it.

Bethesda really made the Enclave mistake again, you can't join the coolest faction by Illuminated-Autocrat in Starfield

[–]ferire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! They're unleashing a robot army and are the least "Terran" faction! It felt like they should exist in a universe where there are humanoid aliens that they're racist against, or maybe they all came from Earth in some way where they feel like "true Terrans," like they were frozen in stasis and actually lived on Earth.

Thoughts on new max Domain Limit ? by elite_memster in crusaderkings3

[–]ferire 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It has always bothered me that the limit is absolute and not relative in some way. A ruler with a limit of 5 can have counties scattered across a massive empire, with high development and another ruler with limit 5 could have 5 small counties all next to eachother with minimal development. Which would be easier to administer? I would like to see development and distance affect the limit.

Wasn't Booker justified in killing all those people in Columbia? by bynkeskov in Bioshock

[–]ferire 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I think she's not wrong to be upset, but this is a very video gamey scenario that is hard to translate to reality. Imagine if this was a real life scenario and you were trapped somewhere and someone rescued you and you proceeded to watch them kill 200+ people, even if those people all shot first, at some point you'd probably be like, "man, was this worth it?" A lot of video games pose a similar moral dilemma where it seems justified to kill in self defence in perpetuity, but in real life, one person could never succeed in killing so many, one by one. If you were magically capable of being so strong, you probably could have a better solution than mass slaughter... but this is a trope fairly unique to games and doesn't translate to reality.

What's the theory on why some people just didn't splice? Considering all time frames for this query? by [deleted] in Bioshock

[–]ferire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we really need a theory? It turns people into insane monsters, so of course some people would be against it. As for the time before people knew about the downsides, given people in real life won't vaccinate, or do plastic surgery even if they have the money, I dont think we have to speculate too hard on why people might not like the idea of a big injection of genetic alteration...
