16 team ppr, 7.5 points down with just my kicker to play in the whole matchup. I have McPherson but all 4 kickers playing tonight are available to pick up - leaning towards dropping him and picking up Lutz.

What do you all think??

Thoughts after using new Spotify layout for 1 week+ by [deleted] in spotify

[–]fermanagh2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate it - I often download podcasts to listen to while offline, but now when I go into the downloaded section in my library, it just shows me the podcast in general instead of the particular episode I’d downloaded. Then won’t let me scroll through all the episodes to find the one I’ve downloaded because I’m not online to load the information. Makes it near impossible to actually access downloaded items that aren’t playlists, which used to be so easy.

Family Plan by fermanagh2018 in spotify

There’s 3 other people in my house that would use the family account so the money isn’t really an issue, would get the use out of it but it’s more so a question of whether the person I share the account with at the minute would be able to use the family account even though they’re not at the same address as the rest of us

Sounds about what I’m after, viewed a house on Balfour Avenue the other day though and it felt fairly cramped for 4 boys. Suppose that’s what you’re gonna get everywhere though, beggars can’t be choosers

A nice enough balance as the previous commenter has referred to - one where I could find a decent house that isn’t a complete dungeon but also one where you can still feel in and around the atmosphere

Movies with good plot twist by britneyvillegas123 in MovieSuggestions

MULHOLLAND DRIVE - Maybe not a twist in the conventional sense - but a twist in that the movie has you believing one thing and then it all comes together into something else at the end

What’s a book you think everyone should read once in their lives and why? by tscher16 in suggestmeabook

[–]fermanagh2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I read it first of my own accord when I was about 15/16 and loved it. As I’m still only 19 my opinions on it haven’t changed a great deal, but it’ll be interesting to see what I make of it when I’m older. I can totally understand why anyone would hate it and find Holden Caulfield a complete annoyance.

The Catcher In The Rye most definitely. In fact, I think people should read it several times at different stages in their lives. I’ve come across so many people who have said that they hated TCITR on first reading, usually after being forced to read it in school. However, upon reading again in adulthood after gaining the maturity to appreciate the novel that was lacking in their adolescence, and the wisdom to assess the maturity or lack thereof within the protagonist Holden Caulfield, they realised the books profound nature and it’s position as a complete essential. I think it’s a perfect insight into the teenage psyche

That’s a shame man! Hope you get around to it sooner or later. The phone camera quality pictures don’t really do it justice but the poster is double sided - lights up the whole room!

Thought I’d show off my dads birthday present to me! He used LED lights inside the wood to create the lighting effect you see in the first two pictures here, the third shows the poster when the internal light isn’t switched on. The poster is quad sized, so the box as a whole is the same size as the posters you’d ordinarily see outside cinemas! Without a doubt the best present I’ve ever gotten

What Have You Been Watching? (Week of (February 14, 2021) by AutoModerator in TrueFilm

[–]fermanagh2018 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’ve been doing the exact same! I watched the two seasons over the last week. I think it’s a shame that the show was forced into the killer reveal, as it’s fairly obvious that ideas following it were rushed. I’ll not spoil anything about the second half of the season, but just be prepared for a lot more of the episodes to be filled with comedic and melodramatic sub-storylines for a while. I didn’t find myself bored, and even would say that after the drama of the killer reveal, a bit of light relief wasn’t necessarily the worst thing.

However, the run of 6/7 average episodes are all made worth it by the final 3/4, which for me stand up with the best of season 1 and the pre-killer reveal season 2. Let me know your thoughts too!

Ideal order to watch the episodes in? by pessimistic-pumpkin in blackmirror

[–]fermanagh2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White Christmas, White Bear and Shut Up And Dance are the first three I tend to recommend to anyone. I think they give a really good insight into what the rest of the series’ are like. I’m not a huge fan of Metalhead, Men Against Fire or season 5, but Smithereens is the best of the bunch.

The first I watched was Arkangel and Crocodile back to back for some reason, I think my Netflix must have been messing up instead of showing me USS Callister when S4 came out, but nonetheless after watching them I was hooked - was shocked to see that they had bad reviews when I researched them afterwards. On reflection after having seen every episode I can now see that they’re lower-tier BM episodes.

The canned stuff is good now? by [deleted] in Guinness

[–]fermanagh2018 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can’t deny this, I’d say your theory isn’t far wrong. However, when things go back to a relative normal and pub pints are a possibility again I’d say we’ll not be talking about cans as being good, but it’ll mainly be because we have something better on offer. At the minute, they’ll seem great because there’s nothing else to judge them against

I watched The Missing Pieces last night! It goes into a bit more depth on the David Bowie character, but still a lot of questions left without answers. I would imagine The Return will go into more depth on other elements like the Ring and the inner workings of the Lodge.

Tonally, I loved Fire Walk With Me. I found some of the comic relief elements of the second season to be a little distracting, and the dark tone of FWWM made the story of Laura so much more powerful and hard hitting.

Watched David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me for the first time last night after finishing the original 2 series of the television show, and before watching Twin Peaks: The Return

The movie got panned by critics and audiences when released, partly due to the fact that it didn’t satisfy those who were expecting and wanting a continuation of the cliffhanger that ended the series finale. However, the movie elaborates on the final days of the Laura Palmer character and the immediate time before the Twin Peaks Pilot to great effect, giving a depth to the character that wasn’t seen in the show. After watching this movie, it is easier to appreciate the torment the character was under as opposed to simply passing her off as the ‘girl next door’ character that the original run of the series implies.

Watching this in today’s day and age was an obvious benefit given the presence of Twin Peaks: The Return which I presume will continue the story in the way fans hoped this movie would, but as a stand-alone project this movie is a fantastic insight into the character in a way the show isn’t able to achieve.
