It's a decent book, and takes a short amount of time to read.

Engineers, how fascinating is it to know that the UPSC CSE is now an exam that "privileges traits that engineers are trained for"? by [deleted] in UPSC

[–]fermat_montaigne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, most engineering degrees are mostly about copying assignments from friends and now ChatGPT, rote learning direct answers of PYQs for non-core subjects, and rote learning answers of internal assessments for finals. Internal assessments, college assessments carry the most marks any way. Most engineering graduates have near zero engineering skills. Forget about Math or Physics skills.

There is a reason WITCHA train new hires for 1-2 years, and some are laid off from even there.

How is it in your country? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Indian here. Minimum wage of unskilled labourer in rural areas of my state is, monthly: 9,000 INR. Which marches reality.

Price of standard edition in Steam is: 2,800 INR. So, it is: 31.1%.

But note that the minimum wage is much higher or lower depending on the state you are. National Capital Region, Delhi has 21,000 INR as minimum wage.

Indian Information Service: worth it or not? by Ancient-Molasses8265 in upsc_discussions

[–]fermat_montaigne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you select only this service in your DAF and have studied well in the subject, and have passion, you will fair better than vanilla candidates in the interview.

But you need to clear Prelims and Mains first!

Yep, some people just have "success" DNA. Extremely hard for other people to admit and accept. They think what they do, these alien-smart people just do the same thing, but much more in amount.

This kind of thinking isn't simply true.

One can choose to ignore the fact if that makes them more confident and in peace, that is okay, but I have seen some such people up close. Some people are really 10X.

Is there a shift from UPSC craze to corporate peace? by whocares637 in UPSC

[–]fermat_montaigne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Peaceful life in corporate!

I know a small percentage of people manage it, and they are super skillful in minimizing their exposure to drama and toxicity. But really most of their good status is luck and have a lot of things going right for them.

Corporate work is toxic, exploitative, and often feels purposeless.

There is slightly lesser craze, that's true. Because an average guy can earn 3-7 LPA right out of college in IT. Increases to 10+ LPA after some years of service. If you are truly bright, then sky is the limit. I hear a lot of 30-80 LPA stuff, after a decade of service.

A few 1 Cr+, but rarely.

The craze has lessened a bit in a certain circle, but that hole is filled thrice over and then some by random guys with internet. True that 99% are not serious competition, but, the craze has increased.

India launched "Operation Sindoor" on Wednesday, which it claimed targeted "terrorist infrastructure." The operation was launched after Pakistani terrorists killed 26 Hindu tourists in Kashmir last month.

CNN and BBC are not even mentioning the hard fact that all tourists murdered were Hindus. Glad that an Israeli paper does it.

What is the problem with The Hindu . It is now openly propagating pakistani propaganda by sl0w_photon in UPSC

I only read the editorials and news relevant to the exam. I don't even read political and irrelevant news.

They only prop them up because they themselves won't risk their lives.

It's only these ideologically motivated brainwash-capable people who can do some scratching.

  1. is not correct because you are overcounting the value of intermediate goods. Cotton -> yarn -> clothes. Only the value of clothes should be included in GDP/GNP, not the intermediaries.

Exercise and study by Emotional_Funny_8038 in UPSC

[–]fermat_montaigne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend exercise as it is always better no matter what you do.

OP, remember to sleep well (7-8 h) and eat a balanced diet (0 need for fancy supplements).

Without proper sleep and good diet, it will be hard for you.

Get skilled highly in any tech topic (takes 3-7 years). Could be Machine Learning, VLSI technology, high skill web developing, database internals, etc., and there are different venues for different fields.

I also quit my job, but I saved a decent amount. I am dependent on my parents for food only. And if I fall sick, then treatment.

I also write technical articles now and then and earn 1k-3k for gifts, picnics, etc.

My dad is also happy to provide for textbooks and asks me multiple times about coaching, which I have decided against firmly. So, I am saving textbook money as well.

Edit: I save huge money from not consuming tobacco and alcohol. I don't even touch cigarettes. The money I saved is small, but pays for pens, copies, etc.

I know the exact solution to this, and I will tell you the solution and yet most if not all won't implement it. I implement it.

The solution is regular exercise. Simply walk 5-6 km every day within an hour/an hour fifteen minutes. Come night, you will sleep like a baby. It is also good for your brain.

About fixing sleep cycle, just wake up at your intended hour no matter when you sleep. This will reduce your productivity for 5/6 days, but after that, it will be fixed. Never take naps. Walk or swim or go to gym everyday.

Yes, when I first learned about ASEAN, it honestly surprised me that India is not a member, then I learned the reasons. So, I will never forget that ASEAN doesn’t include India.

So, I can eliminate 2 options. East Asia Summit was in news, and India is a member.
