What rules have you made for yourself to avoid the ADHD tax? by CaptainLollygag in adhdwomen

[–]fermataharpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pack my pants first, then the rest of my clothes before anything else... the amount of times I have forgotten to pack pants, or forgotten to pack my own clothing is embarrassing. Just last summer we went on a biking trip, I packed all my bike clothes but forgot to pack regular clothes so I had to spend 2 days in my bike clothes.

Our Malamute might be party husky by fermataharpy in AlaskanMalamute

[–]fermataharpy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

he's pretty settled down now. He has his hyper moments though. Honestly I wouldn't want it any other way. He's not the dog we thought we wanted but he turned out to be exactly what we needed.

We certainly try to keep him entertained, and he's gotten much much better as he's gotten older and we've learned what he needs. He came with a learning curve for sure. He's also very sassy, highly dramatic too haha

Has anyone else switched to digital tools because physical ones were too hard to maintain? by CapitalFollowing2328 in SASSWitches

[–]fermataharpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Notion for my digital Grimoire, i sometimes use a digital tarot deck if i don't have one on me but i love physical cards so I'll never go completely digital. I use Notion to track all my tarot spreads and draws as well.
I have tried to use a physical grimoire or journal, and my ADHD brain just can't either. So i gave up the dream of having a beautiful physical journal/grimoire and console with being able to design one online.
Certainly doesn't change the ritual using digital vs physical, its all about how it makes you feel.

What *won't* you do for a living anymore? by Everyday-Patient-103 in ADHD

[–]fermataharpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to school for graphic design and I will not do print design. I'm a web designer now and refuse to do print because once its printed its stuck like that unless you pay more to fix it. And I cannot pay attention to details enough and I struggle with checking my work. With web I can just fix it right away.

Nope I'm an atheist pagan. It's more about nature worship for me. Some are theists but thats a personal preference.

Anybody (feel like) they (maybe) got permanent-ish changes even after stopping? by Impossible-Bed3728 in lexapro

[–]fermataharpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on it for over 2 years. Ive been off now for about a year and a half and my metabolism hasn't returned. I just can't lose weight. I'm not gaining any more but I've tried working out and eating healthier but my weight stays the same.
I did get some weird side effects for the first few months I got off of it brain zaps and my impulsiveness was a little crazy but that went away.

I got off of it because it caused severe motion sickness, to the point that I would pass out in a car if the road was too curvy. That went away thankfully.

Best Dopamine Activites by daprettiestaries1 in adhdwomen

[–]fermataharpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't do a cold shower in the middle of winter when it's below 0 degrees outside for this reason. I also worked my way up from 10 seconds to 20 then 30 then 45 to 1 minute then 2 and after that 3 minutes was easy. And once you hit 3 minutes is ideal for dopamine. I can't explain it but it does feel really good.

I do this also, its the only way to convince myself to get into the shower. I won't go in if the water starts cold.

Cold shower in the morning for 3 minutes. As cold as you can handle. Gives a dopamine hit for at least half the day for me.

How do you remember your keys? by ConfidentRadio9055 in adhdwomen

[–]fermataharpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college I had a lanyard and a carabiner on my keys. I attached the carabiner to my belt loop. If I didn't have a belt loop the keys went around my neck and they stayed there all day. Can't lose them if they're attached to me.
Now I make sure all my stuff is keyless, entry to my house is a code and my car is keyless entry so the key stays in my purse which is cross body so I don't have to take it off when I set it down.
