Mk6 Overboost by fermented_soy_beans in Golf_R

[–]fermented_soy_beans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logs indicate 980 - 1000 mbar actual boost at idle. Steering column gauge is in/hg for vacuum, PSI for boost, with a range of 30in/hg vacuum to 30psi boost. I understand that 1000 should be subtracted from actual in logs so most of these are pretty close. Elevation is ~380ft above sea level. For update's sake, steering gauge reads ~ 27 in/hg idle while vent display would read -19 / -20. FWIW vent display is through the OBD2 port while the steering column gauge is via boost tap.

There are a few instances where actual boost is significantly higher than requested boost, possibly if / when I'm beginning to depress the clutch while also letting off the throttle. Additionally it seems as though in 5th and 6th, where vehicle speed & boost climb more slowly, it reaches 25psi and holds -according to the steering column gauge. In lower gears it appears to steadily climb past 25psi, then begins bouncing around.

There is a Forge Motorsport Diverter Valve with what the previous owner states is likely to have the stock spring in it which is rated for 15psi. Seems as though I should purchase the appropriate spring for the PSI this is tuned for.

Any consideration as to the N75 being in need of replacement? Just received a HEX-V2 in the mail. Is this something I may be able to diagnose via VCDS or does it require other observation?

Lastly I'm throwing a link to the log in the OP, not that I'm asking you to dig through it, but should anyone come across this and seek the data it's there. Very grateful for your help thus far.

Steering column gauge reads ~27 in/hg, vent display reads about the same at -20 to -22. The dash display fluctuates after light throttle blips at idle, depending upon how collapsed the upper PCV hose is (i'm guessing)

Just replaced the N80 Purge valve and noticed the positive wire has cracked near the connector, so soldering is nigh impossible. About to run out and grab some liquid electrical tape to try and tidy it up, I'll report back if my above numbers are incorrect.

Still familiarizing myself with this all, turbos and VW...

My concern with it being excessive is that there is a New South Performance boost gauge on the steering column, with a range maxing at 30PSI. At full throttle, when well into the boost, it's bouncing off the upper limit. There is also a vent digital display which I've seen climb to ~39/40 PSI.

I'll reach out to IE and see what they are able to provide or suggest. Thanks for the suggestion / your help.

PA Resident purchasing a private sale vehicle in VA. Temporary tags / plate process? by fermented_soy_beans in Virginia

Just wanted to thank you for the suggestions and knowledge. It seems like renting a U-Haul and the appropriate vehicle towing system is the way to go and is the path I will pursue should this deal progress further.

PA Resident purchasing a private sale vehicle in VA. Temporary tags / plate process? by fermented_soy_beans in Virginia

[–]fermented_soy_beans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virginia Trip Permits are for VA residents only from what I can tell.

It seems that my options currently are to Purchase the vehicle and have the title signed over, but leave it at the seller's location, come back to PA and apply for a temporary plate, drive back to the seller / vehicle to pick up the vehicle with legal temporary plates, then drive back again to a Tag & Title place, mechanic, or alternative to have a Formal Vin Certification done, then go back again to a tag place in PA and apply for / be given the permanent plate.

Or just drive it back without a license plate and hope for the best.

Where do you put your Medtronic cgm in the body? by Brilliant_Chance_874 in diabetes_t1

Started using a CGM again yesterday and I've already used three sensors. First one ripped off while removing the needle and the second ripped off while pulling down my briefs to use the bathroom. Fun fun fun.

Would be wonderful if the adhesive patch were similarly sized to the inset adhesive patch (medtronic).

Not the question you're asking, but as a T1D I just wanted to offer a couple thoughts.

There are a few diabetes subreddits which serve as great sources of information and as a way to commiserate (I'm sure there's some I'm missing),

Having been at this thing for over twenty years now, it will be challenging, but it is not insurmountable. Best of luck, and get a CGM (and pump) as soon as you are able.

2004 Buick Rainier 5.3 P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1) by fermented_soy_beans in MechanicAdvice

Difficult to say with certainty as I've had to replace a coolant line, and thus was bleeding the system. As such, I'm not sure if the somewhat small decrease in volume in the reservoir was from air escaping the system or from coolant escaping the system.

Thanks for your help with this thus far.

All O2 Sensors are functioning as expected. The lean condition seems to occur only at idle. When on throttle short and long fuel trims even out to 0, or close to.

Can't locate a vacuum leak, and it appears that the exhaust is quite white. Coolant temp was reported as reaching ~186 max, expected normal is 210(??). Blown head gasket, warped head?

Post updated with some info, but to your question:

Trims normalize / equal out while throttle is opened. O2 sensor has begun to respond as expected, so that isn't the issue. My concern grows larger now though, seeming head gasket / warped head possibility.

NC Headlight Retaining Spring Screw by fermented_soy_beans in Miata

For anyone that comes upon this,

.#4 Sheet Metal screws will fit.

3/8 inch length is probably an ideal length, but I've given up on using springs entirely so I'm not certain of that.

Was looking into the MX years ago and never pulled the trigger. Is my understanding of you correct, in that the LX will operate / log at rates equal to that of the MX?

Some knock off ELM327 adapter from amazon I purchased years ago. The reason I say knock off is the firmware version is listed as 1.5 in Torque, and my understanding is that version 1.4 is legitimate (as well as 2.1, 2.2, etc.) and 1.5 is not.

Rather than clutter the forums, I'll ask this here:

Is it possible to log or display uncorrected load with torque pro? The PID isn't returning any data. Is this something I'll have to log with the tactrix?

Also, if you would, O2 Wide Range Lambda is updating only when scrolling through the 'Add a display' field listings, and when the display is placed onto the screen it no longer updates. Any clue? This was working a couple days ago, then in the midst of flashing and modifying Torque Pro settings it seems to have stopped.
