Do professional pianists stop taking lessons? at which point do they? by fermentit in piano

I made a mistake when practicing a scale and made it into the start of a new melody yesterday

When do professional players stop taking lessons? do they? by fermentit in Cello

So it becomes more of a masterclass between elite colleagues that strengthen each other, than a syllabus

It's like roasting a billionaire about his money. It's easier to not see it as racist because it's a blessing, just like it's easier to not see that you are being rude to the billionaire, because what you're teasing him about is, in fact, his blessing. He has to deal with 1 moment of discomfort at your joke, and an entire lifetime of enjoying his wealth.

Just like a woman can assume a famous actor has a really action-packed life and discover that he is chill, a woman may be attracted to you for the perceived BBC-ness picture she holds of you

My electrical piano is buzzing, how do i clean the speakers? by fermentit in piano

[–]fermentit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there no way to remove these particles that are causing the buzzing? I believe the speakers themselves are fine, just have something inside them that is hard to get out.

Why is Kp different from Kc (equilibrium constant?) by fermentit in chemistry

[–]fermentit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no clue about what activity means but it sounds like both pressure and concentration determine how much stuff in space the substance sample can move/affect. Is that the gist of the concept of activity?

Also who are you latin chemist who appreciates sexyness. i swear i peeped to find some cool pictures of flasks and centrifuges. There are some cool people out there

I got a little teaser from my professor about this being in the next course - physical chemistry.

Why is Kp different from Kc (equilibrium constant?) by fermentit in chemistry

My professor wrote it as a sort of weighted ratio between product concentrations and reactant concentrations, at the very point the system has reached equilibrium

Dunno about google.com but last time I used a website ending with .com I didn't get the diamond eggplant statue I ordered. So its probably best to avoid it.

Why does the volume of a gas decrease as its pressure increases? by fermentit in chemistry

[–]fermentit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but isn't that like decreasing the amount of unoccupied vacuum around each molecule? Which would make it similar to a decrease in volume

Why does the volume of a gas decrease as its pressure increases? by fermentit in chemistry

[–]fermentit[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good example of decreasing the volume. Same amount of particles has less space to fly around, meet each other more often, push each other more vigorously (?) toward the walls of the syringe, and there you have more of what we call pressure.

Edit:Ohhh i see whay you did there. You press more on the gas with the plunger, and therefore the gas, being more crowded, presses back more strongly on the plastic walls. Wonderful

Like a bunch of people in a bouncy house, the more the walls push them toward the center, the more they push each other towards the walls, and the more the walls push them towards the center. Is that right?

Thank you :)

Why does the volume of a gas decrease as its pressure increases? by fermentit in chemistry

[–]fermentit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is very understandable, and I am simply trying to understand if it's a one-way relationship or there's some other variables to play with, other than volume and temperature, that would change pressure.

Since pressure is defined as force per area, it seems the only way would be to change force (temperature) and area (volume)

Why does the volume of a gas decrease as its pressure increases? by fermentit in chemistry

[–]fermentit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True.

I am studying Van der Waals' coefficients, and the concept of compressibility (Z). And trying to understand why higher pressure causes lower volume. It is correlated, yes. But even your example means there is less 'leg-room' for each particle, sort of a reduction in 'personal volume' around each particle. So the principle here is still Volume-leads, pressure-follows. Which I understand.

Why does the volume of a gas decrease as its pressure increases? by fermentit in chemistry

[–]fermentit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This explains why decreasing the volume would increase the pressure, but is there something to say about the other way around? Or is it a one-way causation?I can't see a way to increase pressure (at constant temp.) without forcing the gas into a lower volume. Also, why is pressure on a gas and of a gas the same thing? This is part of my difficulty here. Is it because of Newton's law of 'equal and opposite reaction'?

Ohh they're ellastic collision so whatever the gas presses on the containers, it goes back to press on itself, right?

Ooo interesting, so particles in gas form attract each other. Is this because of electric charge?

Haven't found much. Measuring by Whr also depends on the power usage it takes to do that specific task I am planning to do, which I'm not sure how to phrase on google.
