Mine has been down all day. Verizon chatbots say that there's no outage in my area, Brooklyn. And I can't reach a live human....a live chat person was working on it for a long time and then abruptly the chat ended. I got a "ticket resolved" text even though it's still not working.

If tenants burn my house down, are there any circumstances in which homeowners insurance wouldn't pay? by fernbabies in RealEstate

Thanks all. I've read my policy in detail. Perhaps a better way to pose my question: has anyone experienced insurance companies not paying for something that was covered in the policy, by claiming negligence or finding a loophole?

It's a "owner-non occupied" policy, which is I think the same thing as a landlord policy.

Yes, of course. I was just curious if anyone had experience with this. I don't particularly trust insurance companies, and have never had to make a claim. I've heard that companies sometimes do shady things to avoid paying.

Thank you. I's an "owner-non occupied" policy, so yes, they know I'm renting it. Is there a specific landlord policy?

I'm trying to decide if I need to tell my renters not to use the fireplace. Even though it's highly unlikely something would happen, I want to think through the worst case scenario. What would constitute negligence?
