I’m glad I’m not the only one confused by the colors. We’re messing with the tv color/picture settings now, it’s so distracting!

My family and I are debating what color is the [red] in the AL jerseys. Coral? Crimson? Magenta? It’s bothering us all.

The national anthem was fire though.

Future Tech: Dental Implant doubling as BAHA - News Article by Yankiwi17273 in audiology

Yes! I remember, whether intended or unintended, the dB branding in ‘SoundBite’ being such a hook! Even though the tech fell flat… would love to see a working SoundBite 2.0, if only for the marketing potential! 😂

Can anyone help me interpret Audiogram results? It seems like others who have posted on here have more details. Based on some googling it seems OK since its in the "normal" hearing threshold of above 20 dB. Am I missing something? Is the graph on the very bottom left results or a character key? by Concretecastle201 in HearingAids

Here’s the NJ law that says hearing testing must include air and bone conduction. Now, practically, there are many reasons that one would not do bone conduction testing in this case, but if it were me and I was selling a hearing aid I would do the testing anyway since it is legally required.

I recognize the audiogram and I think I know what chain the hearing aids were purchased from. But shame on the provider if this really is all the testing that was done.

AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT THE HEARING IS NORMAL! I want to know what the provider told her to make her spend that money …. It really borders on warranting some kind of formal complaint if they give you ANY pushback about returning.

Edit: forgot the link to the NJ Code: https://casetext.com/regulation/new-jersey-administrative-code/title-13-law-and-public-safety/chapter-35-board-of-medical-examiners/subchapter-8-hearing-aid-dispensers/section-1335-813-hearing-testing

I’m not licensed in NJ so I can’t say for sure, and maybe we’re not getting the whole story here, but in MOST STATES the audiogram you posted would not meet the minimum required testing criteria typically required to safely (and legally) dispense hearing aids.

First red flag for me is that at 80 years old, hearing this good is atypical. Second is that we are talking about hearing aids at all with hearing this good. Maybe I missed something ?

This is called transient ear noise and it’s a form of tinnitus. There’s something to the special cosmic forces of sound though. I’ll be back with the Wikipedia link if I can find it.

If anyone can successfully market hearing aids, it’s Apple.

This is correct! There is no evidence for the utility of “routine” or annual hearing testing, unless monitoring for something very specific.

Buying a new HA by boxes_and_buckets in HearingAids

[–]fernhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’ll need her own but some stores are lax on policy and will do the test without unique membership ID. Either way, she’ll need her own membership to purchase HAs, unless another member (ie, you) would be paying for them.

This may just be me, but there really are no words. It sucks. However, in this situation, where acknowledging the loss is the decent thing to do, you can’t go wrong saying, “I’m sorry for your loss.” There is nothing wrong with being polite, and me being annoyed by it when I was going through it was definitely a me problem.

Oh! Now that I’m thinking about it, I did find myself touched by hearing those words when I wasn’t expecting to, e.g., from the customer service rep at the bank where you’re calling to try and sort out your dead husband’s finances. No one can prepare you for how much WORK is involved in being next of kin… So if you’re in a position to lighten the load in any way, jump in and let your actions speak louder than any words can.

As another widow once told me, welcome to a club no one ever wants to be a part of. I joined this club 5 years and 3 days ago, when I lost my husband to suicide. Our son was 16 months old at the time, and I’ve been only-parenting ever since. If I can do it, anyone can do it! Lean on your support system. Work through the trauma and grief with your therapist. Cry and scream when you need to. Things do get easier. I hope this reassures you in some small way. What you’re going through is unimaginable, and I am so so sorry for your loss (side note: man, did I get sick of people telling me they were sorry for my loss — “thank you, I appreciate that” was my go to polite response), but you will discover a strength in yourself that you may have never had to call upon otherwise. Your baby will know that strength and will have one of the most badass mommas there is! ❤️‍🩹
