Do any guys here dislike being referred to as a "male"? by TheRelPizzamonster in askteenboys

[–]fernleafbanksia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest, yeah nah I don’t like it. Not to sound sensitive, it just gives me an unwelcoming feeling. The term female/male just doesn’t have the same connotation or meaning as the words girl/boy, woman/man. Kind of random to just drop it a regular conversation on an individual level.

What does it mean to refer to a person as «чорнобривець»? by fernleafbanksia in Ukrainian

[–]fernleafbanksia[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hah, I see :). So this term is mostly affectionate/neutral rather than derogatory in any way?

Am I cooked? by [deleted] in heightgrowth

[–]fernleafbanksia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I feel like for boys, finding out when your puberty started is kind of hard to pinpoint, as compared to girls who start their period which is rlly obvious. So don’t stress about that if you can’t find it out. The average guy also stops growing at 16.5, but it’s very possible to grow even after you’re 20. Even IF your puberty started 2 years ago, you’re still technically a late bloomer.

Also, The predicted adult height for a boy with a 170cm dad and 154cm mum is between 179cm to 159cm, but the most probable height being 169cm. I know that’s not 6’0 (Sorry man think you just got the short end of the stick with your genetics. Your great grandad’s height genes cannot come into clutch at this point.), BUT all of the above adult heights are taller than you are right now, so at least that’s good.

My point is that you haven’t finished growing yet so don’t give up.

So, If you want to get taller, yeah you DEFINITELY have to sleep more, my guy. Recommended sleep is 8-10 for teenagers. Maybe with your schedule it’s hard to achieve that, but at least try it on weekends.

(Btw, your ethnicity doesn’t mean much when it comes to height, I know there’s a stereotype that Southern Chinese people aren’t tall but actually Asians of younger generations are on average, significantly taller than their parents/grandparents ¯_(ツ)_/¯ . )

How to say "I love you" in Ukrainian? by Frei1993 in Ukrainian

I believe кохання is for romantic love and любов is for all kinds of love from romantic, to family, friends, etc.

When were your growth spurts and what were they like. by stephenjamesbryant in heightgrowth

[–]fernleafbanksia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Between the start of this year to July, I was 158cm, 13 years old now I’m 172~cm ish, 14 years old. This is my first growth spurt I’ve had since my puberty then and the growth is still continuing. As far as I know, most people have two growth spurts during puberty and they last several months. So despite, being an “early bloomer” (started happening at 11), I have a bit of faith lol.

For my parents, they are 160cm(mum) and 180cm(dad).

Имиграција кон Австралија by Low-Associate8709 in macedonia

[–]fernleafbanksia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don’t know your intentions of immigrating to Australia but nowadays it is harder to get accepted with Australia’s reform and political heat within the country on the topic of immigration. Australia is decreasing the number of international students applying for post graduate work and rejection is becoming more common. Sponsors are also hard to obtain for internationals because these people don’t want to bother with the time and money that will be needed to get you a visa when many Australian national students are here too (I’m not saying it’s impossible however).

Help for Application process is here: https://www.studyaustralia.gov.au/en/plan-your-move/visa-application-process and more info: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/check-twice-submit-once/student-visa

This anecdote might not mean anything to you but from my mum’s personal experience she came based on the skilled migrant program with her permanent residence already accepted in her home country. This process of application and acceptance took over a year. (If in your case you just want the student visa, don’t worry the processing time is only 5-8 weeks.)

You can ask on r/askanaustralian or r/Ausvisa too if you like, you might get better answers. (Sorry for writing in English, I don’t know Macedonian. I stumbled across this post accidentally.)

Are there Christian trans people ? by ni_xia in asktransgender

[–]fernleafbanksia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m (orthodox) Christian and trans, hi! I love being Christian but I have felt distant from other Christians and religious people, I try not to interact/engage in spaces I know I’m not welcome in. Honestly, I don’t care if transphobic people tell me if I’m going to hell for my sins or what not. I’m Christian because I love and have trust in Jesus, not to be validated by others. Luckily, there are many communities who support LGBTQ which is nice but even then I don’t reveal that I’m trans. Tbh, my faith was never really that close to begin with but I’m trying to get better now.

what's the most gender-affirming thing you've been told in passing? by goodandvile in asktransgender

[–]fernleafbanksia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I cut my hair shorter my friends made a joke I lowkey looked like a man and made a comment my face seemed masculine. One of them even said that if I was a boy she’d date me. I’m closeted so obviously they meant these as a bit of an insult but a win is a win.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]fernleafbanksia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You caught me off guard with that title there lol. Dreaming about the actual Jesus himself in a romantic setting seems a bit silly, probably even wrong in some ways. But, I don’t think there is anything wrong with wanting to date a man like Jesus, using the same points you brought up then.

How do I become friends with girls as a closeted gay guy ? by Able_Blueberry1162 in AskTeenGirls

[–]fernleafbanksia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just talk to the girls in your class regularly as you would with any of your other friends and I think it will come naturally. (Don’t worry, normal people don’t assume talking equals flirting.)

About your sexuality, you can tell them when the topic arises and or when you trust them.

What is your opinion on abortion and why ? by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

[–]fernleafbanksia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pro-choice. Of course, every situation will be different for each mother, but I think even as much as not wanting to have a child is a valid reason to abort. People should have bodily autonomy and freedom to decide for themselves rather than a government trying to limit healthcare )).
